Had an awesome night out with the kids. They had a phenomenal time.

Had beers the entire time and met a bunch of great people. A great way to meet your neighbours.

This should happen at least 4 times a year.

I visited mom and watched her dish out the chocs to excited kids. Her dogs were super excite too with all the young visitors to sniff and get patted by.

I have to give Australia credit. Those who participate, take it to the next level.

My wife got my 4 year old daughter a witches costume this year and they put some balloons in the letterbox and stayed at home and gave out lollies to kids that knocked in the door. My daughter loved it and got so cranky when it was time to take her costume off to go to bed. I'm sure we will be doing the same or heading out to trick or treat next year.

    It's not American, heathen.

Is there really a true Australian culture? It seems that is it just a hodgepodge of traditions, foods, etc, that have been adopted from various cultures and countries from around the world.

When the true Australians, Adam Goodes for example, try and express themselves and display a little bit of culture, you boo them out of the building.

If you look up Halloween, you'll find that it originated in the UK actually.

Went to a mate's house with the family. The kids were dressed up and went around local houses. My legs were sore from cycling so I sat there drinking beer and eating BBQ.

Maybe Halloween is a good thing

I'm with JC. My kid thinks it's the best night of the year. We took her out for a walk around the neighbourhood and she loved it.

I giggled when I heard voices out the front of my house, where the three wheely bins blocked the steps.
I giggled louder, when I went out to dinner and found a door hanger advert for jack-of-all-trades handyman service hanging off my letterbox. I'm now tempted to leave the wheely bins there.

The occasional neighbour had a decoration on the letterbox or yard, and I like the idea of combining Halloween with a treasure hunt, where they have to find which houses are participating.

And door-knocking for lollies stops when you start high school. It's not a look of joy on their faces, it is just greed.

ps. I avoid Halloween, because I'm not comfortable with the concept of strangers giving lollies to kids.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.

That line gets trumped out a bit. What Halloween is now definitely comes from the U.S., not that it matters where it comes from.

Just trying to point out that it's not American crap entirely.

Well, my daughter asked to put here witches costume back on as soon as she got up this morning so I have a little witch running around the house again today and she's really happy. Can't argue with that!
