    Default Trick or Treat!

So Halloween was last night (in America!) yet I wanted to know how many of us got door knocked by little people yelling "TRICK OR TREAT!!"

Last night, apart from scaring the bejesus out of me and the dogs, three little people dressed up banged (didn't knock - banged) on the screen door and yelled at me 'Trick or Treat' After running around in the kitchen trying to work out a way to stall or not go back to the door, I found one packet of microwave popcorn (that may have been past it's expiry date) one Chup A Chup (that was in the fridge from the Ekka) and some party horns. I then threw all these into one of the little boys' bag, quickly shut the door and ran back into the kitchen before they could look into their bag and realise how pathetic what I gave them was...

Did anyone else get caught as unprepared as I did??

Then I hear on the radio that children actually ask for money if you don't have any sweets!!! Can't see that going to Charity!!

I wouldn't give them anything. As an Australian, I also don't celebrate on July the 4th.

To answer your question, noone came to our door last night.

I didn't want to give them anything either...

One year we didn't give them anything and they egged our car! At least in one neighbourhood where we lived, there was American's in the street that would put pamphlets in our letterbox letting everyone know their kids were coming around and they provided us with stuff to give them

The only thing I celebrate on July 4th is that was the day I was baptised...

Yeah, we got a bunch of the little critters knocking on the door. It's sort of cute to see the kids like that, and they don't understand what it's all about. But I reckon it's a big load of crap that it happens here. We are becoming the 51st state of the US of Assholes. Over-commercialised hyprocrisy!
Edit: We didn't give them anything as we forgot it was even Halloween, and the cupboard was bare.

I thought there may have been a more recent thread than this one, but I wasn't going to search back through the piss you off thread, and this one is clearly correct anyway.

As a wise man once said, hate, hate, vomit!

Yesterday was my first Halloween in Ballina, and it was horrible. There must have been about 10 groups of marauding kids and parents over the course of a few hours. The worst one was a kid who couldn't have been three years old being pushed up the path in a pram, then got out at the house and had to be encouraged by the parents to knock on the door.

I live in a culdesac, and the doorknockers (whether they are kids or Foxtel salesmen) always go to the other side of the street first, so I got advance notice and I found reasons to go and do errands twice to avoid them. But it got too much for me and it drove me to drink.... so I went to the club.

I think next year it might be a good time to do late golf practice until dark and then have dinner at the club.

As it kid, it was the third best day of the year, after Christmas and your birthday.

I was amazed at how many kids were out last night and the number of houses that were completely decorated, turned into haunted houses, etc.

I love the way that when Australians take something on, they completely commit and do it right

I went for a run to avoid this. On my way round I saw probably 6 separate groups of kids doing it. 3/4 of them were still in their ****ing school uniform! Unless you're an 18-25 y.o female nymphomaniac willing to participate in a 3-way you better not be knocking on my door in a god damn school uniform.

I absolutely loathe it. Get told to os fun for the kids. Just seem like another reason for parents to try and compete with other parents on how much they spent on costumes.

Loathe is not a strong enough word.

Unfortunately my oldest is at an age where she is super keen for next year and I don't want to be a hypocrite and let her go though

    FTFY.

What a pity. The distance between the front of the house and the garden retaining wall is the same as three wheely bins put side-by-side.

    Bloody sooks.

It's good to let the kids walk around and be kids for once. It was interesting to note that the serial scare mongerer Bruce Morcombe chose yesterday to promote his waffle as well.

I was home alone last night. I heard knocks on the door a few times, but ignored them all. I would probably have been reported to DOCS if I'd opened the door dressed as I was.

I have a narrow path from the driveway to the front door - yesterday arvo I placed the wheelie bins on the narrow path - consequently there were no knocks on the door.
