    Default Mevo plus distance issues

    Hi,
So a mate of mine had me round yesterday evening to have a look at his new mevo plus and hit a few balls.
I have a garmin r10 he wanted to compare the numbers.
He was finding his numbers alot lower than his carry distances on course. The guys is a solid low marker and would know his own yardages quite well.
Turns out on average the mevo and garmin showed pretty much identical ball speeds and club speeds and similar ball flights but the carry numbers are consistently between 10 to 15 meters shorter on the mevo.
I even suggested resetting the elevation as he had it set at sea level to 610m above which narrowed the gap by about 2 meters but still along way out.
    Any thoughts?

They are cheap LM's. Their inconsistencies widely reported.

He should go to a Trackman with his Mevo and compare.

Don't worry about MTB, all radar based LMs can be tricky, even a trackman can be inaccurate indoors unless it is setup correctly and you are using RCT balls.

How is his setup? Distance to net and LM OK, no fans, fluorescent lights, reflective metal surfaces in the radars path? Mevo have some pretty good info on there site regarding setup issues, also is he using RCT balls, is the decice upto date?

I think the Mevo plus guesses spin axis but carry, backspin etc ahould be pretty good if setup correctly.

Yeah so I have checked my Garmin against trackman and it preformed admirably. Obviously its not as good but its more than capable for the price point. Carry numbers were within a within half a club or there abouts.

His setup is outdoors Goonie, and the one thing that may affect it is the colorbond fence behind his hitting net. He has followed the set up instructions he received when purchasing the unit.
We weren't using RCT balls yesterday, but he has in the past and seen no difference.

That could be the issue, Flightscope apparently recommend using the metal fly screen, used in screen doors and windows, behind your screen to stop signal reflections, but it sounds like he needs to do something, even if it's for testing. Or he could verify it by taking it to a driving range, warm up then hit a few old balls to get some readings without interference.

I literately bought the Garmin R10 yesterday.

I’ve bought a net from the net return and I’m sure I will encounter some of the challenges listed above.

I’m not necessarily interested in distances but more ball curve to see results of working on my swing on setup.

    I’ll buy some RCT balls.

What is recommended behind the net for maximum accuracy?

Mate I've got a net and a colorbond fence approx 4 meters behind and I've encountered no issues. I bought it for the same reasons as you and it's perfect for those demands.

The Garmin R10 can show launch direction but doesn't measure but only calculates spin axis (curve) in indoor mode, it should track the ball flight accuratlu on a range where it can track the ball flight. If you watch some video comparisons you will see that sometimes the R10 is close most if the time, and other times it completely shows the wrong direction, I am not sure but the Mevo Plus may only calculate in indoor mode as well.

This is the reason I switched from the R10 to the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro so I could get accurate back and side spin numbers.
