Another round with a slow start & a good finish. Playing to a daily of 0 is nice though.

    PPPBPPPPP-BBbPPbPPb 70/36pts

Lazy bogies on 10 & 11, and really should've birdied 16 - drive was just off the green, but left the chip a little short and missed the 6-7 foot putt. Getting there. I want to get to scratch, which is 2 under at this course, which I think is do-able.

35 points. It felt like months since I played ok.

And I still domed one, shanked one, skulled one through the green, and missed fairways by 50m. And had 2 penalty shots.

    2 birdies, 29 putts.

    Its a funny game

    Default WDYSTM - November 2023

11/11/2023, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees (Scr 65 Sl 111 Par 67), Par.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch.

    Scoring PPPBPPBBP PBPbbPBBb; 38-32-70 (+3:E:+3); par 2-:2+:Sq.
    Played to 5.8. Golflink 6.0 (-0.2).

For a change, I hit one somewhere near the centre of the driver on the first and parred the hole. I thought that might be a bad sign, since I regularly give the course a headstart, but it was a sign of a good ball striking day, and a continuance of current good form. I had a little stumble through 7 (four shots from greenside) and 8 (big chunk tee shot), but got back on track and went even through the back nine.

All parts of my game had strokes gained compared to my current goal handicap of 6.0, so I can't ask for more than that (yet).

solid golf Andy! Especially that back nine. You seem to birdie the 18th a bit!

woohoo! Got a call up for the American foursomes matchplay as a a few pairs couldn't make the dates. I've never played this before. Can't wait.

Any tips? Giving the other guys 2 shots. My partner hits it miles, but sprays them a bit. He has a very good short game. I don't hit it very far, but am pretty straight. I'm useless around the greens. I teed off first last time and that seemed to work pretty well, as a fairway finder.

Three birdies on it this year, but only one in each of the previous two years. I also get double or worse on it too many times thanks to that pesky OOB on the left.

I can't help you with an American Foursomes tips.

Humble brag. I hit 79 on Wednesday in comp. First time breaking 80. Handicap was 14.7. It really helps to just hit the fairway and not duff chips. I am still buzzing as I only took the sport up in March 2022. Former field hockey player. Handicap down to 14.1 now.Scorecard attached.

    Scoring (B9-F9) PBBPBPBBB PBPXPPBPP; 38-39-77 (+6:+4:+10); stab 15-15-30pts.
    Played to 11.6. Golflink 6.0 (-0.0).

If my bad round is still 30 points then I'll take that. I wasn't feeling it today (so tired), and there were quite a few shocker shots, including driver sprays, chunks, and a shank, which I haven't had recently. I still wasn't that accurate with my good shots anyway, so it was a bit more of a "grind" today to keep the score respectable.

They have decided to grow the grass on the greens longer so they aren't as bumpy, while they fix that up. It is a good idea as the roll was truer, but noone in the group could consistently get the ball to the hole. I left three just short of the heart. Besides that putting was back to being the strongest part of my game again.

I had a shit warmup today blading chips sideways for some reason. Didn't keep that up in the actual round though, ended up with 42 points (76 gross, best round to date) and won my grade, tied for overall first place with another guy. The greens were in much better condition after another week of recovery, so putting was less of a lottery. Still a little bit to go to get full grass coverage but with all the rain forecast next week they should be close to it next weekend.
First time playing 9 in even par as well, bogeyed 2 and birdied 8, the rest pars. Some looser shots on the back 9 cost a few shots (I wiped 14 with a double bogey) but I really enjoyed it today. Lost 1.1 shots off the handicap as well after that, back down to 9.8.

Playing at Maleny tomorrow morning, not expecting to back that up but looking forward to it anyway, it's one of my favourite courses up here.

Played VGL event at Dorset Golf Club today. Mixed divorsomes.
Great day today with my playing partner bokkending the day with birdie putts. She also rolled in a 15m putt to a back left pin on a down slope, dropped in the front door. We won gross and nett, although we can only recieve 1 prize so the gross was ours.
    39/39= 78
I put my name on a NTP that got knocked off, and they didn't have one on the 138m 9th that I stuck it to 6 feet.
Only 1 double on the card, and I have figured out how to hook a 9 iron 20 metres with control(or it may just have been a once off). Even better is we finished with the same ball we started with.

Got toweled up 4&3 in the first round of American Foursomes Matchplay on Saturday. The guys we played were just too good on the day. They birdied the first couple and were 4 up through 6. My partner and I did everything wrong and combined poorly. I jagged a couple of nice putts and up and downs to stay in the match, including on the 2 holes where we gave them shots, but we were never really in it. Ahh well, can't win everything.

Maleny was fun yesterday even though I didn't play well, at least for the front 9. My first shot hit the rock wall beside the green and shot off into the thick crap left, so that wasn't a good start. Went out in 49 after some other bad holes along the way.
I had some bad ones on the back too, but more pars, a kick in birdie on 16 and another on 17 helped. Just missed a good chance for one on 15 as well. Came back in 39. A good day though.
