Played a social round at Minnippi course this arvo with some workmates. We played the whote tees, so it was pretty short.
    37 & 39 for 76 (4 over).
    13 fairways
    9 gir
    33 putts.

Really enjoyable course. Plenty of interesting holes. The fairways are pretty wide and the greens are huge. No sand bunkers, just fluffy grass bunkers with timber edges.

80/71 in our midweek medal. Happy with that.

Got beaten on a countback by a bloke who shot 101 on Sunday in R2 of club champs. His 82/71 was just good enough. Not happy with that.

37 points yesterday at Wynnum. lost balls on 12 & 13 ruined what was set to be an excellent score. Oh well, happy with how I'm hitting it and can't wait to go out again next week!

Somewhat better today than last week with 33 points. Finally had a good front 9 with 18 points, only real hiccup was a wipe on the easiest hole after blading a wedge 50 metres over the green. Couple of bogeys either side of a birdie on 5, the rest pars.

Back 9 started ok with 8 points through the 13th, but a wipe on 14 after being 90 out in the middle of the fairway (really need to work on my bunker play) and silly 1 pointers on 15 and 17 killed any chance of shooting handicap. Finished with a regulation par after driving it to about 50 out, so that was nice.

I'm in the monthly medal playoff on Saturday, whatever that is, courtesy of a win in April. Hopefully I can play well for the whole round this time.

08/10/2023, Oxley GC, Black Tees (Scr 72 Sl 123 Par 71), Dave Mullen Jug, Stroke.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch.

    Scoring BbXBBBPPB PPBPPBBXB; 40-44-84 (+6:+7:+13) nett 76.
    Played to 10.1. Golflink 7.3 (-0.1).

A couple of penalty shots early and having no idea where the driver was going late in the round was the downfall for this round. However, I seem to be better at controlling the damage overall and still returning a decent score; the last couple of rounds could have easily been a fair bit worse. The putter going really well helps that a lot.

Played the Woodlands Open on Sunday. Putter worked well for most of the day, short game was good, driver was horrible. It is a 36 hole event in one day.
    R1 - 82/74
    R2 - 81/73
The course was in great condition, didnt see too many bunkers on the day. I did manage 3/5 in bunker saves greenside.
2 birdies for the day and no triples, didnt lose a ball. 9 1/2 hrs on course with a 10 min break is hard work.

Just missed posting in the "Conquered the Game" thread. Dang! Only a couple of birdie lipouts in the closing holes or short of the heart putts on cored and sanded greens away from having my first even par round. To have a round that low, I would have expected more birdies, but I'll take an equal record one over any way that I can get it.

Shout out to Arccos of robbing me of recorded PBs in the app by making me split nines, something that Garmin didn't do.

Best round with the driver for ages; a little less distance but happy to sacrifice that for much more consistency. Irons were solid, and because the approaches were shorter from the good driving on dry fairways, it meant the "misses" with the irons/wedges were still good enough to catch the green.

    Played a Stabeford yesterday - 34 points
Started on back nine where I managed to get 14 points after a decent start - Bogey/Bogey(3 pts)/Double (missed 6 footer)/Wiped (2nd double bunger hole)/Double/Bogey/Bogey/Double/Bogey
Things picked up on the front with Bogey/Bogey/Double (duffed chip big time)/Bogey/Par (double shot hole - my par ever on this hole - 515m par 5 dog leg left)/Bogey/Par/Bogey/Bogey

From 16th on my first nine, to the last hole I missed only 2 of 9 fairways with the driver and managed to hit the majority well. Shame was the irons that I just did not hit well but also did not spray around the place.

Putting still an issue for me (hit 3 poor putts on green) as is a serious lack of comfort within 15 metres of the green where I struuggle between texas wedge and pitching.

Saw another slight reduction as that now gives me my 16th round for handicap which has falled from 29.8 to 19.6 across those games

But overall, comfortable and bloody happy to finally par than mongrel of a hole (5th), although now I lose my double on it.

    32 Thursday then 38 Saturday.

That’s 8 of my last 10 at 30+ after not breaking 25 in 4 rounds at Cairns.

    What a rollercoaster.

Either that or sleeping and not being drunk at home helps.

Then again I can have 25 points after no drinks and 8 hours sleep.

Found some semblance of form over the weekend. 87/74 in the medal of medals, didn't start well with two doubles but I played better for most of the round after that. Putting was pretty good which helped save a few pars.

Social club at Gailes yesterday, 85/73. Started on 10 and promptly hit one ob for a double. Because of the rebuilding greens the next hole was 13 and I hit a much better drive there to leave a 40m pitch. Made a series of pars , then towards the end of the round a few stuff ups, finished with a triple after a stupid greenside bunker shank over the green and down the hill.

Still, I'm seeing more progress each week to getting back to playing how I was earlier this year, just need to reduce or eliminate the silly mistakes and concentration lapses.

-1 in a vs par comp on Saturday. Bit frustrated with that as I hit it pretty well tee to green. Had 36 putts including 2 x 3-putts. May have to start working on my putting game!

Finally managed a decent round today, 38 points (16/22). Started with a wipe after 3 duffed chips, but went around the rest pretty well. Birdied 10 from a fairway bunker then wiped 11, fairly steady for the rest of the round. Birdie on 16 but finished with a double after pulling my drive.

The swing is feeling better each week, and I suppose it's showing in improved scores particularly over the last fortnight. Hopefully I can back it up with another good round tomorrow.

Won mixed foursomes today with a total of 141 over 2 rounds. Off to Dorset in CROYDON in a few weeks to represent the club.
Medal of medallists is next week and I am going camping.

I didn't hit enough greens and too many bunkers to make lots of pars, but did well enough, especially with the putter which is so hot right now, to avoid any doubles.

Allowing for wind when putting is something I haven't done to often.

What a day, after about 4 hrs sleep, I managed to hack my way around for a pretty impressive 35 points. My only double coming on the 16th when I stuck it up next to a tree.
    77/71
    1 birdie.

I got the approaches close enough (4 GIR plus 3 just off) to let the putter do it's thing. I bogeyed the index 1 and 2 holes. One penalty shot in that two over also.
