Apologies to everyone. I haven't yet had a chance to update the Vardon. It shall be done in the next few days.

So do we run a poll on Pac Harbour as a venue for the 2007 champs?
If 1st prize next year is 1 round at Pac Harbour, will 2nd prize be 2 rounds at Pac Harbour?

    Thoughts on Pac Harbour.

Too much wind, too many flies, too many Par 3s unreachable with driver 8(.

I'm probably going to be howled down on this, but I actually don't mind having my brain screwed over by a golf course now and then. Pac Harbour succeeded in that. Yes, it was probably a little too tough, but I spent way too many holes thinking about what the course could do to me rather than vice versa. Tried to play hero shots rather than wise shots.

Would have done better if I'd had a sighter round there before the champs.

It was tough in the breeze, I'd say probably about 10 stableford points worth.

Most of the first shots have really wide landing areas, but not the second shots.

I love the bunkering, makes a nice change from circular and oval blobs. Goodness knows I had enough time in them, and those feeling remain even if it took 3 shots to get out of that chasm at the right front of 10.

Some of the holes have really weird undulations. 6th hole, it is pot luck trying to run the ball onto the green - got kicked right off one of the mounds into the front pot. Some other people were mentioning how in other places good shots are getting funneled into trouble. They can pick the places.

Really difficult trying to hold the 7th with a tail wind.

I'm not sold on the double green on 11 & 14, maybe it's because I 4 putted on the 11th as a result.

    17th is overrated.

Love the 18th (only because I birdied it), but there was something demoralising about launching one out of the screws only to find you've been outdriven by 80m!

I'm happy to play at least some break on the green, but some of the greens seem to have excessive swales and undulations.

The flies probably loved us so much because they don't get to meet many people under 60 on Bribie.

Do we come back again next year? For an Ozgolf Day? Yes. For the champs? No.

the course was fine, everyone just played bad golf.

We played the very same course 6 months ago and everybody loved it. I played terrible for 31 points, but I managed my misses. If you didn't think, you got smashed, simple as that.

I watched people miss on the worst areas possible, go at the flag instead of the fat of the green, hit full shots all day instead of punches and the scores are an indication of that.

there are plenty of bailout zones around the course, I didn't see too many people using them.

I think so too Jarro... although history will tell us that the story is always better when told by the witnesses

So who was in his group at the time?

I had a great time, nice meeting the non NSW ozgolfers, never met such a deverse bunch of golfers.

Regardless, sorry to all that had to witness the dress, yes lets just call it the dress.

Played some poor golf, but it wasnt because of the course. It was because of the short game, couldnt get out of a bunker, really thought i was going to have a blinder, both rounds started well. You can ask the partners!

See you all next year! :P

I think I've recovered sufficiently enough from the weekend, and what a weekend it was, to do a bit of a write-up now.

It was great to meet those OZgolfers I haven't met before (poidda, Grunt, Bruce, connico) and good to see everyone else again.

The Saturday morning didn't start as planned, with Iain tailending someone on the way to picking me up from home. Spent the trip north keeping an eye on the bent bonnet making sure it wasn't about to go flying up.

On to the PH range for a meet and greet and to hit a few balls. I haven't flushed it as well as what I did then for ages. If only it had of lasted all weekend, instead of just a few holes.

Thanks to PH for screwing us around on the tee and plopping us right in the middle of a shotgun comp that started at 8:30am......

PH is tough enough, but when you add that wind in, it was brutal. I thought I started okay, but only returned 4 points through the first 6 holes. Very demoralising. Enough about the golf.

Lots of drinks followed, with dinner somewhere in there. Most of it is a blur.
I remember a couple of things from the pool table. One was when poidda lined up and hit a red ball onto a cue ball instead of the other way around, while as his partner, I watched him do it. Surprising we were able to put any balls in the pockets really.
Another, was purposely extending a game and missing shots, so the cute blonde on the opposition would get a few more shots. What strategy!

Kicked out of the pub at midnight, a few of us decided it was way too early to pull up stumps, so lobbed on the door of Grunt's room for some poker. I haven't played much poker before, and had a great time.
Not sure if going all in with a pair of 5s was a good idea, but getting done by a pair of 7s was devastating. Lesson learnt, don't bother bluffing against chicks, they just don't get it.

Eventually we made it back to Steve's place, and I collapsed in bed. But not before getting a 3:56am SMS off to the clubhouse leader, dc68: "Softcock! "

Up at 6:30a, had no idea on the practice putting green, and teed off at about 7:30a still drunk. That's a first. Surprisingly the drive went fairly straight. The round was a long tough slog. Enough about the golf.

I really do have to find a happy medium between the night before and the golf the next day. Maybe next year.....maybe not.

Thanks to all my playing partners over the weekend for putting up with me. Thanks to my drinking partners for doing the same. Big thank you to Iain for being my taxi, and Steve and his parents for giving me somewhere to crash. Well done to the winners of the weekend.

Let's do it all again next year.

Hang on AP. You mentioned me hit the wrong coloured ball, but you forgot to mention you wore the wrong coloured socks! As as for throwing a couple of shots against the cute blonde, what excuse do we have for the next 2 chicks that wiped us off the table?

I've since had harsh words with the missus, and let her know that she made a big stuff-up. I am going to invest in some shorter socks now to avoid this sort of thing in the future.

As for those other chicks, I'm pretty sure they were Australian champions or something.

Nope, just checked my outbox, it was definitely a smile not a razz.
I just didn't think you went hard enough that night, and the fact you won is proof of that......
