    Default WDYSTM - August 2023

Wow, this is a rare thing. I play well enough to actually start a new monthly thread.

A totally honest 36 points for me today. A could've been round though. Decent putting from between 5 and 10 feet and a genuine good score would be being reported.

Well I had a caddyshack game on Wednesday.

    Competition.
    Handicap 17.8
    I was 4 over.
    No birdies
    14 par's
    4 bogeys

It was a bonkers round. I wont lie. I had 2 pitch shots in's from 50 plus out. and I did 3 putts in from just off the Greens.

Playing a little over a year and play comp twice a week. I hadnt even hit my handicap for months in comp.

It was just one of those days.

    Nice round.

I was also 4 over today but that was on one hole. The rest weren't a lot better 🤣 ended up 90/78. I did have another chip in birdie though, on the same hole as last round. At least my new wedges are going well.
29 putts, which included 3 putts on 3 holes. Golf.

76 off the bat around Nambour for the first time, missed a few birdie putts, but did manage a slippery downhiller on 11 for a bird. For a new course I managed to navigate the fairways quite well not getting into too much trouble.

Well played, what’s Nambour like as far as country tracks go

He puts all of his course reviews in another thread. Nambour is okay, but not much more.

Worse yesterday than Friday. 94/82. Irons, partial to full wedges and putting weren't too bad, but chipping was rubbish and I had one of my worst days with the driver, only hit 3 fairways and one was with an iron. The rest of the time I was off in the right trees. I'm sure I'll get back to where I was, my confidence is shot right now but I'll keep plugging away. I am at least making enough good swings to know it's still in there somewhere.

Interesting track, with a good variety in the holes, lots of elevation changes(which I like) and the course condition was pretty good, odd bare lie and greens were pretty good. $20 on a Tuesday or $35 other times is pretty good value when somewhere like Cooroy is $45 and all the other Sunshine Coast courses are $55 or more for a round.

    South course at home today.
1 down playing par today off 11 HCP.
My Stealth 2 driver face came off on Friday so was using a Paradym Driver. It goes straighter and doesn't miss right.
Too many putts but a lot better ball striking.

    Golf is hard!

Was nice to see some birdies go in today, they've been a bit too few & far between lately. Just a shame about all those bogies...

    PBBbBBPPb-BBPBbbPbP 72/36pts

That also ticks off the 4th for my eclectic this year, just need to birdie 5 now.

Yippee, I get to post my round again. Twice this month. Almost a record. 39 points for me today, off the embarrassing handicap of 11, my highest for 10 years.

How dare they put me on 11. I showed 'em for 8 holes and played really well, then survived from that point with good recovery play. Probably the worst 39 point round I've ever shot.

Well, I'm settling in to my new life as a B grader. Played off 11 last Sat in the monthly medal and vomited a quad and two triples onto the scorecard plus lots of other junk resulting in 88 gross for 77 nett. I think I will be in B grade for a while!

Been making some progress with rebuilding my full swing to have some actual shoulder turn/tilt, but my short game is showing the rust of not playing for 7 years.

Sounds like we are on a similar journey 😀, I still have my old hcp of 11, but I am just playing 9-12 holes practice weekly until I feel my game is in better shape before jumping back into comps.

yeah I probably shouldn't be playing comps yet, but I couldn't resist joining Wynnum and playing with old mates again. I've just got to ignore the handicap while it blows out....

Be good to catch up for an ozgolf game one Sunday?

Did the face just pop? My cousin had a Stealth fairway and the carbon crown separated from the face after less than 2 months.

    Default WDYSTM - August 2023

13/08/2023, Wolston Park GC, Gold Tees (Scr 66 Sl 119 Par 67), Wolston Park Cup, Stableford.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch

    Scoring (from 10th) BBPBBPBBB BbBXPBBBb; 39-40-79 (+7:+5:+12); stab 15-15-30pts.
    Played to 11.4. Golflink 8.0 (+0.8).

After the Cairns trip, I didn't touch the clubs for a couple of weeks. I expected to be a little rusty, but this was worse than expected. The driver was missing both ways and the irons were just terrible, so it was bogey city most of the day. I played some holes well but scored badly, I played some holes poorly but had a good score, there was some terrible luck, and there was some really good luck. It was annoying and seeing the handicap pop back out to 8 makes it even more demoralising.

32 points yesterday. 12 on the front after some poor chipping and putting. Sorted things out a bit on the back. New driver worked well and it's nice to have a bit of confidence back off the tee.

Had a very special day today at Beverley Park, it was a day where all those shots went as intended. I had an incredible 47 points whilst competing in the Semi final of the Padstow Bowling club golf Club Matchplay. I won the match 5&3 but in reality could have been anything. I was playing a 14 marker and sort of felt sorry for him to play against me in the form I was in. he birdies, I birdie.
I wont be off 27 anymore who knows what the handicapper does after today.
