Benny ( Gerry’s son) will be reopening Balmain golf in the near future.
He would love to see everyone in there and support from the golfing community.
I am sure the banta and memory’s will live on.
Looking to be around July.
Get in there

Drove past a few times recently saw all the gear still in there was wondering what was happening….good news!
Didn't even know they'd closed. I bought my OnOff Kuro's from them (via online) back in the day!
Balmain Golf has officially reopened!
New trading hours:
Open 7 days 10am-6pm
Late night shopping Thursdays 10am-9pm
The new owners are absolute legends and they have big plans for the shop. I’m sure my dad, Gerry Leahy, would be so proud knowing that the business he started 35 years ago will be in excellent hands.
The new owners are:
David Zahara (PGA member), Damon Stratton & Aleksandra Grandic.

Balmain Golf has always had an excellent reputation for being Sydney’s number 1 place to buy, sell and swap quality new and used golfing equipment as well as being an official stockist for leading brands Mizuno, Srixon and Cleveland. The new owners plan to continue to build on this reputation and grow Balmain Golf via an online store, eBay, Facebook and Instagram. Please get behind them and show your support so that Gerry’s legacy continues well into the future!
If you’ve driven past recently you may have noticed the shop’s exterior has been given a new coat of paint and over the coming weeks the inside will be given a freshen up too. In time, a simulator with trackman will be installed allowing for professional fitting services to be offered.
That’s great news.
How are they going to fit a sim in there? The whole charm of the place was being barely able to walk due to it being wall to wall clubs!
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!
Hi Rick,
one of my highlights of visiting Sydney would be going to visit Gerry at Balmain Golf.
A 10 minute visit would last an hour or more. Lots of great clubs and always a funny interesting conversation with Gerry.
RIP Gerry snd good luck to the new store!

Agreed.
I remember his first store at the bottom of Darling Street.
I bought my first decent driver (at the time) there - the Great big Bertha. Nows there’s a blast from the past
In the bag
Taylormade Stealth 2 9.0 - AD DI 7X, Taylormade Sim 5 wood - AD DI 8X, P790 2/5-GW S300 AMT, Taylormade Hi Toe 53/14, 57/14, 60/10, Taylormade Spider, Taylormade 2018 staff bag
He was a real character and is missed by many. I first met Gerry when he was selling golf clubs from his home before he moved to Darling St. I used to love watching him interact with customers, he was a unique man and lived a very full life. I miss my regular visits.
It was very easy to spend hours in there talking, I hope the new owners are successful.
