Consider a Sat mixed competition, ladies play off a forward tee (CR 71) and the men off a back tee (CR 73). A female shoots 67 gross, and a male 69 gross. Who wins best gross?

Is mixed gross a thing?
Surely would have to be a count back, whichever 9 they do first, and then onto indexing etc etc.
I mean, they have hole indexing etc, two different 9s.

Strange first post. Thanks for joining our community, IanL.
Nevertheless, assuming we are talking one comp for all players, which is generally called a medley, best gross is the lowest score. Doesn't matter which tee it is played from.
Any male who thinks the female has an unfair advantage should refuse to play. But any male who thinks winning a gross in a medley event is important probably should think about why they are playing golf at all.
To answer Andy's question, we play medley on Monday, Thursday and Friday, but we do not have a gross prize in those events.
"There are 50 things to remember in the golf swing. Trouble is that I can only remember 49 of them" - Bob Hope.
The answer will be whoever is sleeping with the captain.
That is the only logical reason that a club would have a prize for best mixed gross score.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.
Our Sunday comps are always medley comps. Best score wins, simples.
Yeah, but not best gross score!

Gross, net, stableford, par…what’s it matter?
The comp is the comp. If you’re in it you can win it.

I've always thought that if golfers were playing different courses (i.e. tees) on the same day then they should be considered different competitions and should have seperate prizes awarded.

The comp is not discriminating, best gross wins. Anyone who identifies as female can hit off the red tees.
I also recall a discussion about one of the multi-round tournaments (CoC or Club Champs, can't recall which). The pumphouse tee was in play on the old 11th (now the 2nd), and the old blokes complained that it was too long, especially in a stroke round. Their proposal was for C Grade to play off the regular tee box, and A & B to play off the pumphouse tee. It was rejected due to them technically playing a different course, which would require a different rating, ACR etc. etc.
We are investigating pick your own tee.
All in the same comp, different course ratings depending on the tee.
Only held back by software at the moment

County, i beleive the unified world handicap system allows for different rated courses in the same comp, and is suggested because of obvious benefit like you described. but yeah, software needs allow for it too.
Our club gives the option of blue and white, but not the reds.
This was due to a day off the reds where a few of the oldies got angry because a few balls ended up in greenside bunkers on par 4 when a few of the young bombers hit.
The club worried about injury/conflict and potentially slow fields if groups are waiting for greens to clear on par 4s.
I never thought about the ntp issue, but it is a very valid argument.
