    Default WDYSTM - February 2023

04/02/2023, Wolston Park GC, Gold Tees (Scr 66 Sl 119 Par 67), Monthly Medal Stroke.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch

Scoring (start on 10): BXXBBPBB BPBBBPXBB; 41:43:84 nett 77 (+9:+8:+17).
    Played to 17.1. Golflink 8.1 (+0.4).

During the week I ran 9 holes in 48 minutes for 5 over. The Saturday round was similar where I was also 5 over after 48 minutes, except that was only three holes. Things didn't really get much better after that, and I couldn't even scramble as the putter had a shocker; I only sank one putt over a metre long. The driver wasn't too bad, but the irons are once again a big weakness. My game is a mess at the moment, so I'm doing something golf related every day at the moment to get better.

This morning at the crack of dawn, I ran 14 holes of the course for 7 over with a couple of birds. Two doubles also; one for the first hole without much of a warmup, and the other was a par 3 where the tee shot went towards the sun, never to be seen again. The game is still a bit messy, but it was much better scoring.

11/02/2023, Wolston Park GC, Gold Tees (Scr 66 Sl 119 Par 67), Amercian Foursomes.

I've been working on my game this week, trying to get a decent swing back. Today was a bit of a confidence booster with some really good driving and plenty of good approaches, although it faded as the round went on and the body fatigued (run and gym earlier in the morning). I was hitting greens in reg from my 25 marker partner's drives early, but that didn't last once he started leaving me in blocked and dead positions. I paid him back by shanking a couple; one into a bunker that he had to play from and another into the water. We had an 8 on that hole, which ruined what might have been a nice score.

We finished with 80 nett 68, which was nowhere near the gross par / nett 55. Seems legit.

Crappy 92/82 today for me. Weather was pretty decent, unfortunately we had the misfortune to get stuck behind a group of clowns who spent as much time piss farting around as playing golf, or attempting to, and ended up waiting around for several minutes or more on just about any shot that wasn't close to or on the green. I can't get any rhythm going in those situations. Oh well, hopefully next Saturday is better.

Tomorrow I'm going for a hit at Brisbane GC, bit of a social hit but will probably play in the comp anyway.

You’ve made your point there. Time to move on to the important comp.

Not sure, Beaconhills are playing there club champs as well and next week will be round 2 for them. 4 hr round and we need to be at StA by 11, I would rather sleep in than rush fro. Course to course. It is 1 1/2 hrs from Beacy to StA.

77 in the Golf Coast Open at Southport. A tale of two 9s, playing the back in even par, but the front in +6. Driver was a bit wayward.

Went off the tenth for a change, the first 4 driver swings were horrid massive hooks - resulting in 2 bogies and a double.

Almost managed to save par on 10 and 11, missed a birdie on 12 and then made a lengthy one for double on 13.

From there played pretty solid, other than a 3 putt on 16.

Turned in +5, went round the other side in -1 for a somewhat respectable 34points (76)

26 today but parred all 4 par 3s so there’s some sort of game there.

    Default WDYSTM - February 2023

12/02/2023, Southport GC, Blue Tees (Scr 70 Sl 124 Par 71 ), Gold Coast Open, Stroke.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch

Scoring (start on 13): BPPPBBbPP XBPPPBPPP; 42:37:79 nett 72 (+5:+3:+8).
    Played to 7.3. Golflink 7.6 (-0.5).

I'm really happy that the work that I put in during the week paid off with a big improvement from how I've been playing the last month. It was disappointing to have a custard head 4-putt quadruple bogey after being +2 through 9, but I moved on from it and only dropped another two shots to par after that.

The driving was the best it has been for ages, especially the first half, albeit gripping down for more control. The strikes on the irons are nice, but I still lack great face control. Short game and putting, especially distance putting was great.

Next up: Vic Champs weekend. Oh yeah!

Would've been 38/39 stableford points Andy? Champs favourite?

Glorious 24 points at the Brisbane GC today which included some good golf, an unlikely par save, an inexplicable lost ball in the middle of a fairway, a birdie and six wipes. Normally I would have been frustrated as all hell playing like that but I actually had fun for the most part 😂 at least my short game and putting were working pretty well. The course was in great condition and I enjoyed putting on the greens there.

It would have been 36pts, as the quad was on a shot hole. Last time I won Vic Champs I came off a Monthly Medal win, and Dunes was one of the courses. Good form is winning form, so yes, I am now the favourite.

A bit of a dip in form lately, but I'm sure you'll bounce back soon.

Yes, it's been a bit frustrating but it happens to everyone I suppose. I'm not sure playing in stinking hot and humid weather has helped either but I'm confident of getting back to the form I was in over the holidays.

Haha...I think being a new course for me, and the company contributed to not getting too upset with the litany of bad shots. Probably going there again in May, might do a bit better now that I have an idea of the layout of the holes.
