Default 2023 - How many different courses have you played this year?

    1. Wolston Park (home)
    2. Caloundra

First time there since 2009 and I didn't remember any of the holes. It was a course that normally would suit my game with wide fairways and big greens; just not yesterday. There were a bunch of downpours in the morning, but you could hardly tell at the course which was in great condition with fast and true greens.

The beer of choice was the local independent Your Mates Larry pale ale. Good to see a local product on tap, although that brewery have pushed themselves a lot locally.

Back to the first course that I ever joined, albeit as a country member, which I hadn't played at since 2014. It was looking pretty shabby, in part because they don't seem to mow the fairways and green surrounds during the week, but also because the greens themselves didn't look good. They have never been great greens, but they were worse than I recall.

That said, I enjoyed playing there, mostly because of taking my current game there and trying it out against the holes I played as a teen capper.

No craft options on tap or in the fridge, so it was a cider for me after the round.

Havent gotten away from my one track much the last couple of years. Is something I want to try and change this year but with a new job and longer hours Iā€™m not getting my hopes up to high.

Andy, last time i played Nambour, the greens were schmicko and condition very good, compared to is 80's condition. Cant put a date on it, but was the same weekend PGA was played at Coolum with Elk, Norman in the field so i guess mid noughties.

I wonder why its gone downhill. Its not as if there is excess golf courses, hasnt 2 closed.

There were greenskeepers hand picking weeds out of the tenth green. Many bare patches on the greens across the course as well. I I don't know what type of grass it is on the greens, but it isn't the same as other courses.

I reported on McLeod last year, when I was very impressed with the condition, but I did find a couple of imperfections this time. One green had a little channel through the edge of it, which must have been where water ran through or something. There was also a bunker where the mat was coming through the sand, which I had to play off. Nit picking though, as overall it is very good.

No beer in the clubhouse, as we went to a local brewery, Lucha Brewing, instead.

Which green? I didn't notice anything on Thursday but perhaps wasn't in that section of the green.
I was also impressed with the condition of the course overall though, no doubt I'll have a few more rounds there over the year.

Another Gold Coast course crossed off the list for playing.

I started on 13 and the first few holes were quite tough with water making tee shots challenging. I was quite impressed. As I played more holes, it became more like a members course, not that it was bad, but there were a few trees intruding and forcing playing lines, and a dumb dogleg par 5. The course was in fantastic condition.

Edit: I forgot the beer report.
Balters on tap. Captain Sensible schooners were 5 dollars a schooner at the moment. I went for the better tasting Balter Eazy Hazy instead.
