I loved this course. I loved how open it was. I loved how it felt like the fairways were so big, but it punished me for not getting it right off the tee. I loved the condition. I loved the Coopers Oak Aged Stout on tap.

Totally get this and for the most part I'm with you on the clubhouse set up, dislike the large airport lounge/wedding reception set ups a lot of clubs went to in the early 2000's.

But do think for some suburban/country courses the clubhouse is underutilised and this could work without huge capital input, or could be a colaboration.

Ocean Dunes on King Island is the perfect example- small donga on the best view on the course, local craft beer in the fridge, local wine and cheese in the fridge, small ‘pro shop’ but nice little outdoor setting. Trophies for good golfers too.

Anyone done the back-to-back Royal member's guest rounds before? I finished my Adelaide/Perth "work" trip off with a couple of rounds in the Perth area.

Royal Freo was in great condition for the most part, and the greens were super fast. Several layup type holes for doglegs, which aren't my favourite thing. Craft beer options were Little Creatures and Gage Road, including having a sour in the fridge, which is a beer style you don't see at golf clubs; big tick for that.

Links Kennedy Bay was good fun, and it will be better once they are back to 18 holes. Multiple craft beer breweries on tap, which was a win, as I like supporting the local independents. Only time for one though before I dashed off to the airport.

I've played it plenty of times, and the beer has improved there over the years. There is even a bar dedicated to some tasty beers. Nothing local though, so I head to those places afterwards.
