    Default The 60's

    I was born in the late 50s, so the Sixties represented my Pre-Teen years. The first ever movie I got to see was Help in 1965 or 66. Here is a great compilation of the most popular songs of the Decade;

    I would hope you were not a widgie! A former bodgie told me they went to Canungra for a sunday drive and the police ran them out of town because their type wasnt wanted there. They had half wheel covers and venetian blinds on the EH... bloody hoons.

    Great clip, few well known songs on there I didnt know who the originals were. Recognise several were covered in the 70's

    I wish my first movie in a theatre was Help. I think my first was also a film with music, if you could call it music. Paradise Hawaiian Style, featuring a Mr E Presley at his cheesiest.

    The first movie I ever saw unaccompanied by parents was probably The Skippy Movie.

    I was taken to see Help by my older cousins. The 2nd Movie I can remember seeing in a Theatre was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 68' They re-opened our century old town Theatre It still had original Wooden Pews and Floors, and rolling Maltesers down the aisles was a thing.

    Here is another compilation;

    You had to be careful in the '60's, you could easily lose an eye.

    My kids formerly went to same school as Johhny OKeefes grandkids, every year at the school festival his daughter would sing, it was bloody brilliant! Almost as good as the real thing ( not that i ever heard it)

    J.O.K. was the original Aussie Rocker. He had his own TV Shows (The John Okeefe Show/Sing Sing Sing) Died way too young of a drug overdose.

    And JOK coincidentally a mirror image of Elvis in so many ways, from his 'vulgar' dancing/music to untimely death.

    The Yardbirds were one of the most influential groups of the 60s. At one time or another the line up included Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page;

    The Beatles had some serious competition during the 60's. Some great bands, here are just a few;
