    Default Aussie Tour Events

Thought i would start his thread as watching the Aussie PGA in QLD.

The quality of golf has been excellent.

Ant Qualye looks like he was born in a bunker, Lucas Herbert is sleeping with all his clubs above PW and letting his putter watch.
The 6'6" Meronk dude... Right sided lovelyness and flushes it.
Marc L has obviously been drinking in bunkers instead of practicing.
Min Woo Lee is proving to be the most complete Aussie golfer in years, how does he hit 4 iron 260m? FKING HOW???

and that 17th hole.. looks brutal

    and the big surprise.

Nick O'Hern.. cracking commentary - they NEED to keep him on the team. Subtle Humour, great knowledge, no exaggeration or bullshit drama. Like watching golf with a mate.

Really enjoying it... like proper enjoyment.

It's a well known fact that great Victorian golfers play shithouse on boring, overrated Queensland tracks.

that is freaky, but also the ball is going miles in the air and on the ground in SEQ right now. 1 month of hot and dry air after 110 months straight of rain. The swamps have turned into concrete.

I agree the layout isnt exactly exciting... but it is a good course to watch golf on... and my only real complaint is the greens --- Cooch 328 or Bermuda 328 should only be used for grazing cattle you dont like. Its like putting on Broccoli.

But Marc's swing looks way out of sorts. His right side is firing way too early - he will fix this for todays round,

The Jarrod Lyle tribute is pretty awesome... but why not do it on the Saturday when more people are in - more merch to sell and more people to see in yellow.

WTF would you do it on a Friday... sponsor thing?

    Or just shit marketing ?

OK - one more little whinge - mainly because i am all COVIDED up.

The moron who is doing the tips - he demonstrates a method - runs through the method and then does something completely different in in the swing.

The hook shot around the tree, the swing was NOTHING of what he demonstrated, the shot yesterday with the chip shot - also nothing like how he actually hit the shot

(i need to get outside and play golf and not watch it... no wonder my wife is never near me whilst watching it)

Big breaths!!! That is standard for golf instruction, say one thing, drill something slightly different, then totally demonstrate something completely different.

Im working on it.. but there is not one Pro who rotates his right hand over the left to hook the ball.. not since Vijay probably. who let this muppet on TV. FFS - do something useful. trying to teach club golfers to hit hooks is like teaching carpenters how to program Cisco Routers. Just stop it and leave all that crap to Fwits like Danny Maude and Chris Ryan who ran out of content 3 years ago.

Do what Peter Cowan does... and just teach little cheat codes for chipping and putting, do some stuff on grain and using your hybrid to putt off the green. And then find some footage of Jarrod Lyle hitting those shots to tie it all in.

Also find someone who doesn't use their personality as a contraceptive.

I found this link, it looks like they swapped the 1st with the 10th but not sure about other holes.

    https://www.golf.org.au/ausopen/king...lub-event-map/

Fox said they’re using an extra hole in the layout.

My formatting on phone didn't quite work out...

Thanks for the map - a very interesting routing. Only the last 5 holes played in the right order

The 10th tee area is now used for a couple of other holes

It's the routing they've used for other tournaments. The 10th hole is a beaut par 3 but is a bit of a choke point if you've got numbers of people out and about. The 19th sits on land immediately behind the 1st (normal routing) and is used instead

The 19th was played as the second in the past though? They have just renumbered a few holes.

I can't remember to tell you the truth. Did it go 1, 19, 12?

Did anyone else yell @ Harrison's caddy for letting him take driver on 17 on Friday ?

I would have given the club to someone in the crowd to stop him hitting it.

Play golf in Victoria they said, you'll have a great time. The people are so friendly they said.

    Maybe something in the water.

That was strange but maybe down to inexperience, no idea why Scotty hit iron off the 17th yesterday when Meronk had already hit the fairway with his driver.

It was just stupid. he had just fought back to get inside the cut line by 1 and then he just pulls driver on a hole averaging 4.6 and 18 averaging 4.

As for Scotty - 17 was downwind - he would have been fine if he didnt shank the long iron.

Loved the women and men playing together - and the disabled dudes as well... i hope that catches on overseas.
