Can't post the good rounds if I don't post the bad ones too. Struggled with the driver today, cost me 6+ shots (OOB 6, lost ball 10, OOB 15). Wedges were good when I had the chance to use them, and didn't make enough putts.

Need to work out my driver before Redland Bay on Friday.

After my longest break all year without touching a club due the course being closed for flooding, I was back out today in the first group.

    20/21 - 41. 0 birdies, 12 pars, 6 bogies.

Its been a while since I shot in the 70s at the home track. Should be back down to a daily of 10 next round at home, and with the conditions deteriorating as the day is going on, it should hold up with over half the field in.

Next Round - Fairbairn Open, followed by Braidwood and RMC Opens

30 points is a bad round - wow! Its an average round in my world, and the bottom of 'acceptable'.

What do people judge as their definition of a 'bad round'? For me, anything under 26 is bad.

I believe Golflink said 33 is an average round, so for me 33 is average, 34+ is good, 32 and under is bad.

I have a target that one day I'll have all 20 scores in my Golflink as 30+ stableford points or more, so therefore 30 points is the absolute minimum standard I will accept. If it starts with a 2 it can **** off.

I would have achieved this if it weren't for one ****ing miserable **** of a day about a month ago. 19/20 @ 30+, it's more ****ing irritating than golf itself.

This sounds a bit right. Thresholds go down if it's an unfamiliar course - 30 at home is bad, 30 at a tough new course might be alright.

Playing some better golf, 38 today.

Of course there is a sting in the tail, 38 after 17, drove it down the middle on our last, 155 into a light breeze, domed a 5 iron into the piss after hitting it crisp all day, lost the day (split am/pm field) by a shot.

33 wins a ball and is top third of the field every comp at GL

I said quite some ago that I would only post good rounds, so the discussion of what defines a good round is relevant.

For me it sort of depends. I would count a 33 and above if I have played well and either been unlucky or putted badly. i wouldn't count a 34 if I did it by chipping in or holing lots of putts.

So, by almost all definitions my 35 points today qualifies, just. I started with a duffed chip and 3 putts for a wipe, but a putting adjustment meant putts went in, and I played fairly well from that point. I tried to choke my way out of a good score, but just held on. No tantrums, either, for once.

I'm usually disappointed with anything under 33 points, under 30 is worse. How I make a good score doesn't matter too much, if I slightly miss greens and make and up and downs for par I'm happy, but I get a bit annoyed with myself if I'm constantly having to recover from more troubling situations.

Just a degree of difficulty thing I suspect. With water on 14 holes, a wayward day can cost a lot of shots quickly which can easily unravel.

We also have very few genuine scratch markers - one at last count, and about 4 under 3 all up.

Our club champion shot 80, 68, 80 to win.

If it’s harder shouldn’t everyone’s handicap increase until they level out where the scores should be similar to every other course?

Higher scores do. The lower 60% of the field may not

Yellow tee comp, with one magnificent shot.

Missed a two foot putt for par on my second hold when I went to tap in carelessly, ground it out for 19 points and second in the Chook Run.

GA will be back below 8 for the first time in a while, and I would have collected maybe $130 in prizemoney (which equals beer) for the week.

    Fairbairn Open, here we go!

32 points today. Shanked it, duck hook, 60 metre chip in for bogey, hit a roo with 3 wood second shot on the fly. What a weird day on the course

Great day for me, with 32pts. Was a club and a half at least short with my irons all day, not yet sure why. Four fairways, and only 2 GIR, and one of those was from a low sliced 6i through trees that landed short and nearly rolled through the green, with the pin at the front. Played the 5 par 3's to par, with a birdie, 3 pars and a bogey. I started a new green reading and target routine today which was going really really well, but on one of the 3's I trusted my read over what I'd seen from the other 3 players and just missed. Should have known better since the creek was in the direction that it broke! Own silly fault.

Also my own silly fault was discovering I'd played a wrong ball from the rough on the previous hole, so wiped out my total 4 points for those holes. Silly silly, considering it was preferred lies through the green today, although I clearly didn't take advantage of that at any time! Rough was thick and unmown and was finding lots of lost balls in the trees, but didn't pickup the one I thought was mine to check. Even more nuts was I have several marks on mine, so clearly wasn't paying attention. Had a friggin great day, all things considered. And without those two wiped holes played to 86 today for my 3rd round back. 101 for my first, and 95 for my second. So it's going the right way!

Played semi final of match play this morning. Guy I played was hitting his 3 wood past my driver 10-15m lucky my ball striking was very good today and hit the close enough to put the pressure on. Got the win 5/4. Into the final now but no idea who I’ll play the other half of the draw hasn’t even played a game yet
