The first release of the DDH had serious issues with all the top players that could hit the ball hard at my club cracking them with a number of them having to use the find the largest piece and drop a new ball rule after a few broke completely.
I was only a junior so didn't have that problem. I was gifted a heap of new balls from the big hitters after those issues.
Top Flite XL was the same, one bloke snapped his in half often
What didn't work with these?
I like them for Driver distance. but I am going off them for irons and wedges. I was getting inconsistent distances and I thought it was me. But I switched to a Chrome Soft mid round yesterday, and my distances were back on track. Not quite as clicky off the Putter as well. Driver distance seemed to be similar.
Actually, may be adding the ProV1 to the list too! Had a social round with a mate earlier in the week, and my prov1 2nds were performing pretty much as they had, nothing spectacular but I'll put that down to me, not the ball. Anyway, was getting a bit frustrated, in particular with the feel. They just felt "hard" to me, particularly off the driver. 5 holes left to go, I switched to an old Laddie I had in my bag and bloody hell what a difference! Was back up to my usual old iron distances (nothing spectacular, about 135 8i) when I had been a club or two short. But I was also having great distance control. several of my last few holes were into head winds so was hitting knock down punches into greens and they were spot on and stopping well. Driver was way different! Felt so much better, and even though I only hit one fairway of the last 4, they weren't as far off target but also longer anyway. The one fairway I did hit was my longest drive since starting again, 239mtrs. Key was that I didn't try to hit it! I also hit my 4w 190m up hill, at least a one to two club rise, and I'll take that any day. Finished the round bogey, birdie, bogey, par, bogey. But two of those bogeys required punch outs to the fairway, and the other was hitting out from trees and into the greenside bunker with an extremely tough bunker shot which went very well, and just left the putt short centre.
More than anything, it was just how much better the ball felt, and also the extra height I was getting. These old man arthretic bones clearly need something like this!
I also have to admit, my best ever period of golf was pre ISG/Ozg/Rec.Sport.Golf days, using the Precept MC Lady, Nike Spin Control or Srixon Spin (I think it was called) balls.

Lol I just went back to ProV1s after going through a box of TP5 pix. I like the pix but I feel like the TP5 spins a bit much, TP5x spins less but they feel a bit hard. ProV1 feels better and spins a bit less so it's probably the one going forward I think. I've been chopping and changing between them recently trying to decide which one I prefer.
Slazenger V300 soft.
Similar flight to a small bottle rocket.
Titleist Velocity. I keep some ready for Ambrose comps. But since i knocked off 1 degree on my driver to keep spin down, I cant get it up anymore, like Damo.
OK, have some TM Soft Response, Titliest Tour Soft, Srixon Soft Feel, Wilson Duo+ Soft and a few Precept Laddie to try at my next game. 3 Holes each, then the winner will get the last 3.
