National Gunnamatta (Mornington Peninsula)If wife/ time permits, you could easily turn the Peninsula days into 36 hole affairs and add The Dunes and Moonah Legends.
Surely if you get onto National your playing the old off the stonesFar more impressive the Gunnamatta

Holy Crap. Sweet info / debating. Reading the post it seems the must plays are RM West...so we are down to one JK
PK North seems to be "somewhat" of a consensus by most but not like RM West.
Really interesting to see how much VIC, Metro, KH, PK flip around view point wise.
Minimum have 6 rounds in the area and my order was:
RM West
KH OR PK North (Tied in my mind right now)
Vic
Metro
Yarra
RM was always a must but it should always been top of *Granted I am 8700 miles and limited so why asked....
Fully aware of the Dunes, National, etc, If I did have a couple extra days, in my mind the drive south an hour each way Vs hit KI or Barney it would be better to do KI or Barney.
Based on post it appears KI would be "check if off list" One round at OD and 2 rounds at CW. Sounds like CW is just that damn good.
*As to cost, Wife and I set a budget. Right now we are good BUT that is the "wife trip" budget. Going that far there is no way you can not find a way to make it work.

The KI trip to play CW/OD sounds like the best option. I will see how to make it happen. Ran some numbers, if I get the 3 day window it would not be overly bad. I agree if I just flew 8700 miles.....17 hrs in planes (ugghh) and it is that close and not do it....!!! That would be a TOUGH flight home.....
For those who have gone to KI for two 3 nights, 2 days. I assume standard 2 day, fly over hte night before, 2 round at CW, next morning round at OD and then fly out?
Who do you fly with? Charter would kill $$ wise unless a large group. I see King Island Airlines, REX, Sharp Airlines?

Why wouldn't you arrive in the morning, and leave in the evening? It's only an hour flight.

Andy excellent question. I probably should of laid it out better.
Flights to KI depending on which carrier I found the earliest you land was around 8:30. The latest out was around 4:30. So 8 hours. 45 mins up / 45 back, play 1 round and fly back. That is totally viable.
I guess my mind took over, if CW is as good as everyone states I would kick myself for not playing it twice.
My thought at this point is to take the earliest flight, get up the CW and try to get 2 rounds in that day? Thinking it is possible based on sunset times for the last two weeks of March. Next morning play OD before going back. *Could play CW again but I think if I skipped OD I would "wonder" if I should have at least seen it...
I get your point, if the wife says you have one day It would have to be the fly in / fly out single day at CW.

You'll see more than enough of Ocean Dunes as the plane lands.

I was there in April, while glad I played both, next time I am sticking to CW. The likelihood of weather would mean I would stick with the better course in case a day is blown away.
OD is also a punish of a walk.
I still prefer Barnbougle for a trip though, and the short course just adds to that. Round in the morning, beers and half a bag around Bougle post lunch.

Woodlands is in with YY and Metro (and Commonwealth). RME should be in the must play list.

What Webster says is 100%
In context I wouldn't be flying out from the US to play Woodlands.
YY or/and Metro is a better experience. I would include it on the rota if I was only flying from Perth though.
Woodlands lost its way a bit with a shuffling of Supers since we played it, its back to decent now.

if you can look through the occasional patchy conditioning, it has some marvellous golf course architecture.
Worth seeing for the 4th hole alone! It is unique and probably in amongst Australia’s top 5 short holes!

It's nice, but short in length and there are many other courses down the Peninsula well in front of it

I would recommend the new Sandringham Public course Simmsy…just over the road (and maintained) by RM.

not expensive and good golf to get rid of the cobwebs!
