31 points today. Putted like rubbish with 38. A few crappy chips, otherwise I struck it reasonably well. New irons are going well, starting to dial in distance more with them. 7 fairways and 4 greens today.

Had a good round on Saturday, about the only problem was holeing a putt, and spinning the ball back off the front of a few greens. Been working on a few swing changes
    75/71
    2 birdies

    Default WDYSTM - July 2022

24/07/2022, Wolston Park GC (Scr 64 Sl 107 Par 66 - Temp Forward Tee on 5), Social.

    Strokes Gained vs Scratch

    Scoring: BPBBBBPBb PbBPbBBXP; 39:36:75 (+4:+4:+8).
    Played to 11.6. SCH 7.8 (-0.0).

Started by snap hooking the first into the Brisbane River, which got me down immediately, although I did follow it up with a pure approach. Bogeyed too many of the first set of holes to have a great score, but things definitely improved. My iron striking was as good as it has been for ages. Unfortunately, I couldn't sink a putt over 2m all day, not a single one, and I also had a few three putts from longer putts and the fringe. I'm not taking the blame for that, as I thought the greens were pretty ordinary and inconsistent (after I talked them up a couple of weeks ago); maybe that's the difference between playing Saturday, and playing Sunday afternoon.

It was looking like it would get back to being a tidy card until I hit a great drive down 17, then pulled a 3I left into the glaring sun and it couldn't be found, taking a triple. It will be a Saturday round this week, so I'm sure all parts of the game will come together with hopefully nicer greens....

Little 9 holes practice at Oxley today (front 9), started with bogey. Forward tee on the 2nd allowed for a rare green in under regulation, but was a bit tentative on the eagle putt. After that bogeys on 4, 7 and 9, all from misdirected approaches. Ended up with 37(+3) which isn't too bad considering my ball striking was a little off, mainly thinning it a bit. 5/6 fairways, 3/9 greens. 13 putts.

18 Holes around Alice Springs this morning.

    89 Gross for 36 Points.
    Front 9-
    4 Pars
    3 Bogeys
    1 Double
    1 Triple

    Back 9-
    1 Par
    7 Bogeys
    1 Double

Little wayward off the tee at times, but overall not bad.
    Scrambled well.
Hit one into the water off the tee on Hole 10, still walked off with a bogey.
Left a few short game shots out there. Duffed a few chips and hit a few putts a bit hard.

After a ridiculous 22 points at Oxley yesterday off the blues, I played a fair bit better today off the whites with 87 and 33 points. Tee shots were a bit wayward at times but the short game and putting were working well with 77% up and downs and 26 putts.

I have a number of rounds coming up over the next fortnight with a week and a half of leave starting Wednesday, and a trip to Tenterfield from Thursday to Sunday. Looking forward to it.

Net 77 at brookwater yesterday. Awful front 9, salvaged somewhat on the back. Showing just enough promise to make me think that maybe I'm coming out of the slump. Golf has a way of doing that, only to crush you next time you play.

Nope. I was planning on going, then heard that the groups had already been organised well in advance.

    Default WDYSTM - July 2022

30/07/2022, Wolston Park GC (Scr 65 Sl 107 Par 67), Stroke.

    Strokes Gained vs Scratch

    Scoring (B9 1st): PbbPPXbXB PBPPBBbBP ; 34:38:72 (+2:+3:+5).
    Played to 7.4. Golflink 8.8 (+0.2).

Started on fire with five threes to start my round, including two birdies, and hitting everything well. Then I toe hooked one in the hazard on the 15th, my 6th, and struggled for a few holes, with the exception of the tee shot on 16. I think I got scared of how well I was playing. Gave myself a bit of a self talk about this shouldn't haven been unexpected because of the work put in, and to focus on committing with the shots. I think this actually increased my swing speed from normal, because I was hitting some really big shots towards the end of the round. I overflew two greens and got on a par 5 in two, which isn't my thing.

Greens were definitely better playing in the Saturday comp, than Sunday arvo post-trampling; it was much easier to trust the line, although not always the speed. If I had have hit a couple of putts slightly harder, I would have had a few more drop, rather than deviating at the death with the grain. This round is definitely a good sign that things are on the improve though. It's nice to hit greens in regulation for a change.

A good round this morning (been a while), with a few things I've been working on starting to fall into place. Just need to get the approach game going a bit better.

    BBbPBPPPb-PPPPbBbPP 70/39pts

Gaining strokes putting (vs. a 0 HCP) is pretty rare for me, so very happy with that.
