I still dont get why the PGA don't go, if the LIV guys want to play in PGA and they qualifiy, let them play.

It would stop them losing the big guys.

I still say at the end of the say only the PGA will lose when the new owners sell the PGA to the saudis for a few billion

Interesting case study in someone taking such a long time off and how he comes back. His talent was never in question. LIV seems like a good fit for someone with injury concerns.

    here's an interesting situation.

    https://www.australiangolfdigest.com...e-format-2024/

If I was the "Premier Golf League" I'm not sure I'd be poking this bear, but if it all went to court, I'd think PGL would have to prove how much they have lost by their format being nicked. And the easiest defence would be for LIV to say they haven't made any money, so we shouldn't have to pay anything.

As to the golf, I'm cheering for Niemann, purely because he seems to have made an effort to show he belongs, unlike everybody's friend Talor Gooch.

I'd love to think this means the LIV players will stop complaining about how unfair it is that their different format of golf isn't considered comparable (or even superior) to golfers playing a more traditional format. It was so unfair that Anthony Kim didn't get ranking points on top of the money he received for his effort over 54 holes last week.

I'm impressed by Mr Norman's claim that LIV has made every possible effort to comply with the requirements of the OGWR, but they won't work with us.

Looks like we are in for a long struggle before common sense has any chance of being applied.

The journalists wont stop using leading questions to ask the players what they think about the OWGR points issue, nor will they stop reporting the answers in a way that makes them look like unsolicited complaining. Its gonna get worse now.

    Two things can be true.
    1. LIV can’t get OWGR points because they don’t fit the criteria
    2. The OWGR is now effectively meaningless as a tool to rank male pro golfers.

To some extent the rankings have always been meaningless. Do we really accept that Greg Norman was the number 1 for almost 7 years when he only won two majors in that time.

Nobody cared at all about who was number 29, or 39 or 89 until now, when it is important for LIV guys to get into majors.

I still hope they keep up the Joaquin Neimann trend of inviting the guys with the hot hand. It would be wrong for genuine good players like DJ and Bryson to sit at home. But the Paul Casey's and Charles Howell's should not get in because they win an LIV event somewhere out of the blue.

You know.. if LIV grab a few more players.
    Adberg
    thomas or speith
    Min Woo or Adam scott
maybe one or two others... Lowry, Xander, etc

The PGA tour is looking rather bleak.

dont know where the cash is coming from or how they can sustain it.. but Not sure how long they can keep this up.

The younger PGA tours players maybe hunting to get picked up for LIV. The PGA Tour becomes feeder for LIV . . .

    Bleak...

Thomas and Spieth could be a problem but the rest are largely irrelevant or inconsequential.

And would it matter in 3 or 4 years anyway when LIV has maybe 10 players who matter and play against each other for all but 4 events a year?

Pro golf as we know it dies and starts again on 20% of the current budget.

They could get round the 54 holes easy.
They could even do a cut (mind you a lot of PA events dont and they still get points.

Isnt the real show stopper they dont do qualifier events and don't reglgate ?
