I get the PGA and DP tours being pissed the players went over - but I don't really get why there is such a big beef from the players themselves? Or was it because they weren't invited?
If it becomes a true international series, isn't that a good thing? Granted, they seem to have a lot of events scheduled in the US??
I understand the feelings about Saudi human rights, but at the same time when the US and various EU countries seem to supply them with the bulk of their arms, and both also seem to buy the biggest percentage of Saudi oil, isn't a little bit precious to be as vocal as they are being? I mean, a lot of the retoric seems way above the level of just being pissed?

That is what currently annoys me about Rory - on one hand he tries to play the 'nice guy' by saying that everyone is entitled to make their own decisions and he respects them, but then immediately acts as the mouthpiece for the US PGA Tour by slagging them off at every opportunity. Any respect for Rory has dwindled to near negligible levels.

This whole debacle is not about Saudi money - it is solely about the threat that it presents to the US PGA Tour. I am not an apologist for the Saudis, but I find it incredibly hypocritical of the European tour to now whinge about Saudi money after having a tournament there for the past few years.

From an Australian perspective, I think the US PGA Tour has very effectively crippled world golf over the past few decades, and is only interested in doing what is best for itself (i.e. the USA). I have come to think that there is actually now a massive opportunity to re-balance the scales in power by LIV and the European/Asia/Australian tours joining forces to create a product that it is a genuine competitor to the US Tour but also has 'world' events that aren't all in the USA ...

Because the media is winding everyone up by being an apologist for the PGA Tour as they despise the Saudis for killing one of their own. It's that simple.

Nobody cared about Saudi human rights matters before that happened. They are not the only conservative Islm nation in the world.

Billy Horschel has gobbed off recently but did he really go out of his way to say it, or did the media ask leading questions to elicit headlines. Now the media goes headless because Poulter and Billy has a chat on the putting green, they got a reaction to feed their frenzy

To be fair to Rory, he could never go to LIV because of that reason. No 4th round means no patented Rory backdoor top 10.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

Is it maybe instead of just playing in a tournament there on the circuit, they are now employed by these gouhls and effectively their mouthpieces.

PGATour is shit no doubt and deserves all it gets out of this, but **** giving LIV and Saudi Royal Family any credit. They're buying PR, LIV is the Kardashians of sport.

    I'm Boycotting LIV Golf.

(Given that I never ever watch professional golf this is an easy sacrifice for me to make but I feel very smug about being on the right side of history)

Are they allowed to wear shorts? Did the PGA ever allow that? I remember somebody had a campaign going ages ago.
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

to be fair, if you are gonna boycott LIV, you are self-banned from asking questions about it.

They did it too. Assume Rory will DQ himself now rather than suffer the indignity of playing a 54 hole event.

I am actually quite happy giving Billy a free pass on that - he very clearly nailed his colours to the mast many years ago when he said that he couldn't understand why "our tour" (ie. the US players) should have to travel to ridiculously far away places like Mexico for a WGC event. His current comments are completely consistent with his existing US-centric viewpoint, so we can't really critique him for that. Billy doesn't strike me as the sharpest blade iron in the bag, so I am also not particularly worried about the supposedly hypocrisy of Billy criticising LIV players for playing in events that he himself never really played in before now.

If I was in charge of LIV, I would be beating down the door to get China and India on board as partners. Get the two biggest growing economies on side, and watch the US PGA tour freak out then.

Ultimately, there are no 'good guys' in this scenario. The best outcome, particularly for non-US golf fans, would be for all the parties to get together and nut out a genuine compromise deal that sees all the best golfers available for a genuine world tour that includes more than a few token tournaments outside of the US.

I'm amazed none of the moral crusaders to LIV objects to BMW sponsorship given the profits they made from human suffering in living memory.
