Starting to appreciate the Shotgun 'finish'. Totally different dynamic with so many players still with a chance. Last night 6 players playing their last hole or 2, 3 tied,3 one shot back, and 3 two back

When Lahiri holed out from the fairway on his 2nd last hole, although he was out of it, made me realise that if anyone of those 9 players hit a freak shot could snatch it, and then Niemann almost holed his exactly how Lahiri did.

Seems like both the players and the media are getting sick of the bullshit and might be moving towards co-existence or at least tolerance of each other.
The idea of no OWR points is not sustainable, and i think the world will get better once that gets sorted out.

The top players have probably realised or been advised that their position in the game could be affected if the best players aren’t playing in the majors. How can they realistically be compared to Jack or Tiger if 40-50% of their competitors aren’t there?

Rory significantly changed his tune after Cam Smith beat him at the Open.

The dust is settling and a lot of predictions are turning out to be true.

“Free agency has finally come to golf,” said LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman. “This is an opportunity to start a movement that will change the course of history by bringing new and open competition to the sport we all love.
“The desire shown by the players to participate in LIV Golf demonstrates their emphatic belief in our model and confidence in what we’re building for the future.”

Or Talor Gooch comparing a team win the winning the Ryder Cup?

How has the game grown through LIV?

The same way the game’s grown through the PGA Tour. Pros are making more money.

Well I guess it's given some journeymen a place to win money instead of struggling to make cuts.

From the scores that some LIV players are shooting they would be having plenty of weekends off.

He does. He’s not a member at the moment so he can do what he likes. LIV came along at the perfect time for him.

I think the OWGR stuff is going to be sorted sooner rather than later. Maybe not in earning points but a path forward or indication of when they will.

I understand LIV cant change the rules that OWGR use, but if LIV players (such as smith, DJ etc) aren't included in the rankings, then is it even a ranking system that matters?

It'll be the 72 hole cut rankings, which players who are mediocre will be included in the top 50 and reduce the overall quality of top tier events / majors.

Would the masters be a better tournament with DJ, smith, Neiman, Bryson etc etc or without them?

I think there is a big difference between LIV earning points or not, or the argument for how many points should be allocated to LIV events.

    OWGR isn't owned by 'golf'.
It's owned by the Majors and the tours.

I will be shocked if LIV gets points. LIV players will have to earn them through Majors, Euro and Asian and perhaps even Australian events

How do you know how good Smith and DJ are if they only play each other and a bunch of spuds?

Because they've won majors. The most recent major.

So I can't see how playing a different event changes their talent level.

I think the majors would be even better with all players involved.

Definitely correct the OWGR is run by the majors / tours, but wasn't the idea of the rankings to get the best fields for big events? Is that occuring without LIVs best players?

And how long does because they’ve won majors last if they stay in LIV?

I think if win one major then exempt into all majors for 5 years, and exempt into the winning one for 10+ (something like to that)
Or could just do what Lager did, win one major then retire a champion.

He could win 25 majors, he’ll never be a champion

Not that a major can be created, its just a label that caught on after a time. Interesting though that saying this suggests LIV is in this for the long haul. Hope there comes a time where LIV might co-sanction something like Australian Open, that would make a difference.
