What if you were driving a taNK at 35km per hour transporting 500 sandbags?

That’s clearly going to take longer than driving at the taNK’s potential top speed of 50kmh.

Are you saving fuel for a stint at top speed in order to be first to a checkpoint?

Depends on the time of day, but from the airport to Mareeba allow around an hour.

Yes, a very important checkpoint in the second grade of taNK racing. Don’t want to get caught out and have to compete in the first.

I'm heading up there for work tomorrow, ao I'll actually take note of how long it takes. I know there have been some major roadworks happening just before Mareeba, so if you're coming up during the day you may want allow a bit more than an hour.

Most of the roadworks are done Dave - I came home from Tolga that way a couple of weeks ago. Heaps of roadworks between Mareeba and Atherton though.

I'm sure you could take my ute or the Mrs' Lancer if it's only an overnighter mate. No need to dick around with hiring cars and shit.

Ah, that sucks man, but if you're ever up this way and need to borrow a vehicle feel free to check in first. No kids means it's a hell of a lot easier for us to go with only one vehicle for a couple of days.

You know somebody will give you a lift to golf?

You can’t get out of it because you only have one car for a couple of days.

I'm offered a lift to golf every time I play.

I refuse it because it's an hour before my tee time, a full 51 minutes earlier than I like to get there.

That’s the sort of ridiculous behaviour that’ll have people shooting even par rounds. Do they never sleep?

You might have more fun if you get there early?

Why not get the lift and smash 4 schooners before tee off.

    Sort of works for me.
