I played with a bloke recently who carried left and right handed putters.

Although I would imagine your decisions have a bit more thinking behind them than “sometimes it looks like a right handed putt, sometimes left”

Well of course mine do. Sometimes it FEELS like a left handed putt, sometimes right.

Two putters is a genuine waste of a bag space, and honestly, how much of a dill would you look / feel carrying two putters onto a green? That's just madness. Could you imagine a bloke doing that in an A grade Pennant final!?!?!

You won’t need the righty putter in matchplay anyway. They’ll be giving you the 2 footers.

In theory, yes, in practice, not so sure.

I'm heavily left eye dominant, so require an offset putter left handed and a non-offset putter righty (hence playing with a plumbers neck lefty and a centre-shafted Ping Tyne C righty).

I'm sure an engineer could design me something double sided that's offset lefty and not righty, but that thing would be uglier than a hatful of arseholes with one hanging out the side.

I think the only valid reason for abandoning lefty completely would be if I was better righty, and I genuinely can't see that happening any time soon.

The only caveat would be that I can now see taking up righty putting full time, as I'm slowly getting to the point where my mid and long range putting righty is starting to equal my left, and I'm only about 6732% better righty inside 3 feet, so picking up a shot or two from the missed short ones isn't cancelled out by the 3-putts from long range, and the missed 6-10 footers that I make lefty.

You certainly wouldn’t be the first. I know of a couple at our club who use an opposite handed putter to the rest of their set. Whatever works best…

Handicap now down to 10.7, and by my calculations I need to have an 82 or better in one of my next two rounds...

And achieved...!!!



Went out on Friday and had another really good round going, before gagging my arse off down the last 6.

I'll save the gory details, but was 2 over through 12 holes, having had a bogey on 5, a double on 7, a birdie on 12 and parring the rest.

Multiple, MULTIPLE opportunities to make a par down the last 6 holes (good looks at pars on 5 of the 6 holes) but couldn't get it done for a second consecutive round breaking 80, excruciatingly frustrated at the end result but an 80 is tolerable in the grand scheme of things.

1 double

7 / 14 Fairways
7 / 18 GIR
30 Putts
5 / 12 Up n Downs

Anyway, down to 8.3, so single figures achieved, and I finally got an official GA cap sorted for this cap, should make things a hell of a lot easier.

So you should be. Now that you’re off single figures it’s time to get a players driver, you know D3/4, TSR3/4, Ping LST, things of that nature.

Hmmm, they should have been "No Score - Approved", but essentially, yes.

Have to have a golflink to enter the comp at Cairns, and Golf Australia said that I can't have a second handicap with them, but "I need to play to my full endeavour" in any handicapped rounds, so as you can imagine playing right handed off my left handed handicap was not my "full endeavour".

I get that this is a very unusual circumstance, but for Golf Australia to say I can't have a second cap with them is just utterly bizarre and did no favours for my lefty cap, quite the irony.

I always said you shouldn't be even considering these types of drivers unless you're consistently 5 or below handicap. I'm waaaaaaay too close to that, so I'm now changing that to 2 or below.

They way you’re going you’ll be able to play either side off just the 1 handicap and it’ll be accurate

That's not very nice, I'm at least 5 - 7 years off drifting out to 8 left handed.
