Are you allowed to play it left handed with the right handed club when up against a tree?

I reckon the way to go is play two half sets of left/right clubs at the same time. Inspired by 3pp.

While that level of detail was not alluded to, you'd certainly hope yes.

Technically they only said "right handed clubs", so I could flip them all over and play them that way lefty.

This is the official wording from GA....

Many thanks for your query. The relevant Golf Australia policy is as follows:

"Although the matter is not covered under the World Handicap System, it would be reasonable for a club to allocate to a member who already has a GA Handicap for one hand, a Club Handicap for the other hand. The GA Handicap must be the lower of the two handicaps. Any decision to allocate such a handicap is entirely at the discretion of the club.

This Club Handicap would only be applicable to that club and could be restricted to certain events as decided by the club, for the duration of a stipulated round or all rounds of any handicap event. The member should be advised that the handicap is allocated upon condition that only clubs specifically for that hand are used when utilising the Club Handicap. A separate handicap record would need to be established and maintained in accordance with the Handicap System, but as a manual record, not in GOLF Link. Participation under the Club Handicap should be handled as a non-GOLF Link visitor would be.

As the club is responsible for allocating the Club Handicap, it has full power to withdraw it should the member be deemed to breach the conditions or spirit of the special Club Handicap.

Additionally, the World Handicap System requires a player at all times to endeavour to make the best score they can at each hole in every round they play. A right-handed player who is unnecessarily playing shots left-handed whilst playing an official handicapped round is not meeting this fundamental obligation."

    Hopefully this helps.

I would think that once you're past getting the swing elements going, you're hc will drop quickly. I mean, a consistent swing is only one part of the game, and you have all the other requirements pretty much down pat.

There hasn't been thus far, but the worse I played during my handicap rounds the higher my Ned 'cap would be, so wasn't a big deal.

Now that I'm playing to a 'cap I'm sure there'll be more disappointment and anger, but the baseline of expectation is far lower.

Are you trying to tell me that putting with a wedge ISN'T endeavouring to make their best score?

I like the theory, instead of just maintaining a handicap before the eventual drift out to double figures, you can go to golf with some hope of improvement. That said, you sure the combination of sun, Great Northern and Rugby League hasn't fried your scone.

I have HEAVILY, to the point of proactively, gone out of my way to avoid 2 of those 3. And I probably should have avoided the 3rd a lot more, but can't be helped.

Took the Righty cap out for it's first run on Saturday, just a regular Stableford comp. Started the day off well, nuking a drive down the first 265m. Shame about the 3-putt...

4 x 2-pointers to start the day, an unlucky penalty on 5 catching the cart path but still nabbing a point, and another 2 pointer on 6 (another 3-putt... ) garnered me 11 points through 6 holes, not horrendous. The wheels fell off from there. Struggled with short game (no surprises there), throw in a few three-putts, chunked or flared 3/4 wedges and flop shots and the chance to convincingly break 90 slipped through the fingers, finishing with 91 off the bat for 29 points. Hit some great shots, some mediocre shots and a few very ****ing ordinary ones.

    4 Pars
    9 Bogeys
    4 Double Bogeys
    1 ****ing Other

    6 / 14 Fairways
    7 / 18 GIR
6 / 17 Up 'n' Downs (lots of double chips, FFS)
    34 Putts

Handicap moves from 13.2 to 14.2.

It's pretty clear to me that the key to dropping my cap is in the 70-100m wedge game, getting better touch with flop shots and eliminating the silly double chips and 3-putts.
