    Default WDYSTM - April 2022

Last round at North Adelaide before my move to QLD. Stroke round, generally played well and putted well, with a couple of bad holes dragging me down.

Monthly medal at Oxley today. Didn't start well, felt out of sorts on the front 9 and got through at +13. For whatever reason, maybe because I didn't really care what happened after the crap front 9, I got into a nice rhythm on the back and played it in +4 with a birdie on the last to finish 88/71. 7/14 fairways, 5 greens, 30 putts, up and downs were 50%. Cap back down to 14.9. On a side note, I'm really enjoying my new fairway wood, I didn't much like hitting the old ones I had in the bag but I have much more confidence with the new one. The first round with it last Sunday was a bit inconsistent but I hit it a lot better today.

    Default WDYSTM - April 2022

02/04/2022, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees (Temp tee on 1), Social 12 holes.

*I'm not sure if the first is actually a par 3 at the moment instead of par 4 with a temporary forward tee

    Score: PbPPbPbPP PBP; 32:12:44 (-3:+1:-2).

It's the first time I've had a round under par, but unfortunately it was only 12 holes, as I was playing 9 plus with a mate. It hurt a bit to walk off with the scorecard in such a good state and wondering what could have been.

Hit the driver dead straight all round, with the exception of one slight tug. Putting and short game was good. As I suspected, the small greens last week made my approach play look worse than it actually is at the moment; it's the first time that I've had 8 GIR this year, and there were still six holes to go.

I think it’s a monthly ritual that someone posts in the previous month.

And… after a week of travel I struggled. HARD.

One positive takeaway was the performance of my new G425 5 wood that arrived on Friday and that of the G425 LST 3 wood.

Was due to have a gane at El Arish on Friday, but work stuff changed that, so had a hit at Tully instead today.
The round started well until a double at the 6th and 8th killed the front nine for a six over par. The second nine started with three bogies, then a lip out for birdie on the 13th birdie, messed up the 17th for an 83 off the bat for 18.
Driving was solid, missed one fairway and had 29 Putts. Need to sort out the approach shots!
A positive was that I got Golf Shot to add the course to the database, so at least I can get more accurate info...kind of helped today.

I have moved to Northern NSW for work, and the only place dry enough for a game was Cooly-Tweed.

First time there today on the river course, and it was an unadulterated chop fest. Parred the 1st, then bungled my way round for 6pts total through 7 holes. Determined to crack 10, I went bogey/par for 11 on the front.

Back 9 was much better (though not that good) actually hit some golf shots including a great 15ft slider on 14 for a birdie.

    Highlights:
    That 1 putt
The bikini girls lazing on the river on the walk between 1/2

    Lowlights:
Twice having 3 in a pot
    My golf game in general

    11/15 26 off 7
    A birdie
    Some bikinis

Good track the River course, some tight holes around there.

That's a really inappropriate comment about the bikini girls.

3 games in 3 days recon for a future Golf and Pinball S.A trip

    27pts (17-10) around Bordertown.
-1 in members Par comp (-1-0) at Nhill
28pts (13-15) around Horsham with my pre Ozgolf crew.

Too many double or triples all set up by very poor drives and no short game these days to save a few shots.

A late check-in for Saturday's Monthly Medal at Half Moon Bay. Not having played for a month I started well and was playing to handicap until I hit the 13th hole. My swing proceeded to fall apart spectacularly and I limped home with 3 doubles and two triples.
    39 / 51 for 90 net 80 (par 70). ☹️

87/72 in the Monthly Medal at Reddy Bay. Started on 10, was more of the rubbish I have been playing lately for 49. Then doubled the first. Something clicked, went dPPbbBBbB for 38. First time I have had 3 birdies in a round, let alone 3 in 4 holes. Not sure what happened but hope it stays around.

Midweek Medal. 13 pars, 4 bogeys and a 3 putt double on the last for 78/71.

I've won the first 3 midweek medals for A grade this year, but that won't be enough. Someone will have a day out on the scarified and sanded greens.

I only post good rounds in this sub-thread nowadays, so, since 1 round in January, I posted 1 round in February and no rounds in March. I haven't played a lot due to rain and wet golf courses, but my golf has been awful when I have played. Ballina has recovered, and is in remarkably good nick.. More forecasted rain this weekend, so I'm not sure how the course will cope with that.

But, to the topic. I had 39 points today, off 9, so only 6 over. 3 birdies, and two missed 5 footers for more birdies. My swing didn't feel great, but I kept hitting good shots, so no complaints.

Played holes 1-9 at Dubbo yesterday morning. Kikuyu made me feel at home, and I enjoyed the layout. Birdied the 2nd, bogied the 6th, parred the rest. Drove the ball really well, but couldn't make a putt (birdie was a chip-in from the fringe).

First round as a member at Brookwater. A tale of two 9s - the first where I stunk it up and struggled in the different conditions, and the back when I remembered how to play golf. Driver was solid all day, but hybrids & irons were a bit off (especially to begin with). Chipped very poorly to begin with. Putted well, particularly once I adjusted to the different grass (too used to bent) and started putting a bit more aggressively. Could've easily been a few under on the back if a few more putts dropped.

    XBPBXBXP-PPPPBPPbP 83/77 (31pts)

Love the layout, and the course is in reasonable condition considering all the recent rain.

Topped my opening tee shot 40m hard left into the water, had 27 ordinary points and 12 very good points.
