I only caught it watching last weeks Front Bar last night. Bevo doesn't mind having a go at journalists and I like it.
It was a quality over-reaction tantrum.

    And you mean "former journalist".

Sentiment was right, execution was wrong.

Morris is a ****ing grub, and has history with the Dogs. I'm all for calling out "journalists" (and I use that term as loosely as possible when it comes to Morris), but not sure that was the best time or place.

In saying that though, I believe karma has served up a lovely little result here.

I thought it was totally misguided myself. Bevo might have been better off directing it at whoever the internal leak was, after all Morris didn't get the story wrong.

He did it because they don’t know where the leak’s coming from. He said as much.

It was about who’s playing or not. Bevo’s a tool.

Having said that, I enjoyed it very much and hope there’s more of it.

Well then perhaps he should have piped down until they figure it out instead of carrying on like a tool at someone doing their job, especially considering how run of the mill the story was.

Bevo often cites mental health when anyone is critical of the dogs

He did the same thing with Ryan Gardner in the GF side, and he also tried to dig up shit that didn't exist with Bailey Smith taking leave for Mental Health reasons prior to Christmas. Just to name a few.

There's right ways and wrong ways of performing his muck-raking job, and Morris is doing everything the wrong way. As exampled by Jesse Hogan's tweet from a few years back.

Bevo noted that professional journalists will give clubs a courtesy phone call to say this story is running, get your house in order, ie. Let Gardner know that he's being dropped for the biggest game of his life instead of having to find out from some ****ing racist, sexist, hompohobic worm who rimmed his way into the position of privilege he's in with "the ol' boys club".

Doubt you'll see anyone with a moral fibre shed any tears over this flog ****ing off into oblivion.

I was going to ask about that. My assumption was that Bevo was pissed at the potential for a player to find out that he'd been dropped from the media rather than coaching staff, but I didn't know the timeline.

There are 2 main keys that make this very unlikely.

1- traditionally the club/board, which Trevor Nisbett has been involved with in some form since day 1, are one of the more reluctant to just knife a coach for the sake of it via pressure in the media. Even if you take results out of the equation you might see that even the Ken Judge era was given a predetermined amount of time to succeed.

2- the additional resourcing issues facing the main 22 has been somewhat unprecedented in VFL/AFL footy except for maybe the Bombers back in the Dank days.

If you were to look at performance alone you might say yes he gets the knife. However the extenuating circumstances out of a coaches control would suggest the board will not be rushing to make a change.

Coaches are the scapegoat of the 21st century though.

Club made a decision to load up and cook the list a bit to chase more flags. It didn't work and now chickens are coming home to roost.

Have been a bit unlucky that Yeo can't get on the park, Shuey turned to tissue paper a year or two earlier than perhaps you'd expect, Sheppard and Venables being ko'd and then this preseason which is one of the worst i can remember.

Makes the 8 that didn't make it last year - Fremantle.
Falls out of the 8 - Dear God let it be GWS.
Wins the spoon - Dear God PLEASE let it be GWS.
Wins the comp - Don't think I have this one right. I have a 2 in 8 chance of being thrilled with the premier, a 2 in 8 chance of being OK with the premier, a 3 in 8 chance of not being happy with the premier but at least it wasn't "those ****s", aaaaaand I'm pretty sure I'm still going to lose.
Wins the Brownlow - Reckon I've got this. Neale the main threat, and I know they probably didn't win enough games but surely Laird has to be a smoky. Has been outstanding.
Wins the Coleman - Umps gave all the soft frees to the wrong Carlton bloke.
Makes the 8 that didn't last year - Bang. Missed Richmond though (was probably more hopeful it wouldn't happen than actually believing it wouldn't). Definitely didn't see the Pies happening.
Falls out of the 8 - BANG! Happy days! Missed Essendon though, which I probably would have also guessed if I took this question seriously. Didn't see the Power happening though.
Wins the Spoon - I think we all saw this coming.
