    Default Afl 2022

Caught a bit of the trial match last night between Melbourne and Carlton. I won't read anything into the result, but the crackdown on dissent at umpires seemed..... extreme. Will be interesting to see if behaviours change as quickly as they did with the man on the mark rules implemented last year.

So, two weeks before the season starts seems a great time to put in a few predictions

    Who:

    Wins the comp
    Wins the Brownlow
    Wins the Coleman
Makes the 8 that didn't make it last year
    Falls out of the 8
    Wins the spoon

As a Carlton supporter in my early thirties who missed the glory years I've learnt that prior to round 1 is the only time to express your Carlton arrogance because come the start of the season it's all downhill from there.

Wins the comp - Melbourne go back-to-back, with a tiny bit of thinking Brisbane could finally do it.

Makes the 8 that didn't make it last year - Fremantle.
Falls out of the 8 - Dear God let it be GWS.
Wins the spoon - Dear God PLEASE let it be GWS.

They'll find a level with the dissent free kicks I think, a couple of them I thought were the players just being annoyed at themselves for giving them away rather than being directed at the umpire. Overall I like that they're finally enforcing it, the rule has been there for a while. It was good watching the players just get on with it after most of the free kicks instead of carrying on like children at the umpire.

Premier I think Melbourne again, Brisbane a sneaky chance
    Brownlow I'll go with Petracca
    Coleman Hawkins
Richmond to get back into the 8
    Falls out GWS
    Suns for the spoon

Hot and cold team the bulldogs. I think Marcus will have a standout year and carry the team as much as he can.

Of course it’s just a prediction. And I’m no footy expert that’s for sure

Or the Dogs aren't that good?

I didn't even know it was on yet. Very early start in Queensland.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Dogs coach's reaction to journalist Tom Morris after the game last week?
I only caught it watching last weeks Front Bar last night. Bevo doesn't mind having a go at journalists and I like it.
