First round at Tully Country Club for an 81 off the bat, playing off 7. Managed a birdie on the 9th and then a mix of pars and bogies. Had no GPS map so struggle a bit with distances into the greens. Happy with the scoring on an unfamiliar course. Driving was ok, mainly struggled on pitches and chips into the greens to throw them up enough.
Next round probably El Arish on Friday arvo.

I tried my best, but you know the young folk these days. So cocky and headstrong, won't take good advice from their seniors. Little shits.

After the game, he went straight home and googled 'Saudi Golf League qualifying school'.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.

Nah he’s a ripping good kid Dotty. I doubt he even knows who the Saudi’s are.

WDYSTM - March 2022
26/03/2022, Laidley GC, Laidley Classic Day 1, Stroke.
*Remove one GIR, since Arccos had the 1st as par 5, instead of 4.
Score: PPBBPPPBP PXPPPPBPX; 39:40:79 (+3:+5:+8).
Played to 9.1. Golflink: 8.4 (-0.2).
I'd had this on the calendar for a while, as I thought it would be good to challenge myself in a 2 day tournament. I felt like I was striking it pretty well overall, but not good enough to hit the narrow greens; fortunately the short game held up. The driver had a good day, but when I missed with it, I got punished, including finding what seemed like the only cactus on the course. The two doubles dragged down what was a good score.
27/03/2022, Laidley GC, Laidley Classic Day 2, Stroke.
*Remove one GIR, since Arccos had the 1st as par 5, instead of 4.
Score: BPPBPPBBB BXPPPPBBX; 41:42:83 (+5:+7:+12).
Played to 13.1. Golflink: 8.4 (-0.0).
I hit the irons even better to start the second day, but I just couldn't sink a decent length putt on either day. The chipping fell apart too with some knifes and a shank. I felt the game fell away when I decided not to get the egg and bacon burger through six holes, ruining the routine from the day before; I had it through 12 and the game bounced back immediately...
Once again, I felt like I got unlucky with the missed drives, and managed to find a second cactus. Double bogeyed the exact same two holes too, but in different ways. Grrrrrr!
Overall, I'm seeing some improvements in my ball striking, and will be interested to see if it will continue and lead to hitting more greens at a course that has larger greens.

Such a rookie mistake. What are you doing with your life?

I played an hour earlier than the day before. I tried to make the routine time based instead of hole based. It was a critical error that cost me, and I can only learn from this mistake.

There was a pro golfer called One Tree, forget the name but ran the Ballina driving range a decade or so ago. If there was one tree on a golf course, he would be stuck behind it.
AndyP now known as Cactus.

88/74 at a rather damp Carbrook this morning with the social club. Chunked a number of irons in the soft ground, and struggled with the slow greens but it was a fun day which is the main thing.
7/14 fairways, 5 greens and 34 putts.
Next game is at Riverlakes next Sunday.
