First game in 2 months, 36 points in the pissing rain yesterday, four worst tee shots right at the end when everything was soaked.
Hightlight: partner and I had 27 on the front in our 4ball to turn 7up.

A couple of demons copped a dagger to the heart today in the Monthly Medal.
After chipping in for birdie on the first I went out in +2 and then came flying home in -3 with no bogies.
39/32 for 71 (70)

90/71 (par is 71) in the Oxley monthly medal today. Was on track to beat my handicap until I lost my tee shot on the last and had to go back and hit another one. Still happy to play better than last time I was in a black markers comp there.
Next round tomorrow morning at Gailes with the social club.

Monthly medal today and first round of clubbies.
79/75
2 birdies
1 double
Putting was ordinary
Every approach shot seemed to have a magnet to the hi side of the pin. I couldn't place approach shots in a worst spot if I placed them their

Cheers Ash, I’m sure the wet conditions are helping somewhat.
Even so, I backed it up this morning playing with my daughter, my mate and his son.
Went out in a clean -3, home in +1 for 2 under 70 (39pts).

Social club game at Gailes, ended up with 90/73. A few untidy holes, wasn't helped by having to wait around to hit just about every tee and approach shot. Tee shots were reasonable hitting 8 fairways, but leaked a fair few approaches right of greens, and only hit 3 of them. Short game is a bit off at the moment while I get used to new wedges. 31 putts.
Next round at Oxley next Sunday.

WDYSTM - February 2022
06/02/2021, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees, Social.
Score: BBBBBPPPB PBXbPPPBP; 41:35:76 (+6:+3:+9).
Played to 11.6. SCH: 8.7 (-0.0).
Unlike last week's 5 straight pars start, I started with 5 straight bogies yesterday, snuffing out the chances of shooting a really good score. The only part of my game working was my chipping, but this was wasted by poor putting. I fought back well to make it only +9 in the end. I could have blown up after two consecutive chips coming back to my feet on 12, leading to a double, but I bounced back for a kakaa on 13, and even par for the last six holes.
I have my first ever lesson scheduled for Friday, so it will be interesting to see what happens after that.

I don't play well in stroke rounds at Sandy Gallop, apparently. Slow start (very soft 3 putt on 1), then a bunch of bad holes on the back while not converting a few good birdie opportunities.
BPBBBbPPb-BPPXPPXPX 79/77
Back in SA this weekend, and have a bunch of Vardons lined up to play in.

This has probably been explained to me before but why don’t GIR and up & down attempts add up?

Consecutive chips rolling back? Does it only count as an attempt if you land on the green on the first attempt? Mine have been hovering around 45% lately, I actually feel like I've been doing worse than that.

A failed attempt is still an attempt. If only the good ones counted I’d only have 14 or 15 putts per round.

I couldn't find the Arccos definitions, but I believe it would be a distance thing; likely inside 45m only. The hole that it didn't count for the U&D stats was the first where I still had 54m in for my third, after a big fat chunk with my approach.
It also isn't counting multiple attempts, like I had on the 12th. I guess it only cares about up and down for par, not the attempt for bogey, then double bogey after it.
The Strokes Gained Analysis is the important thing for Arccos. Despite the 4/11 U&D, it tells me I was playing well around the greens (+0.3 vs scratch marker), but not as good once on them (-1.3).

It's a bit confusing. If you duff the first chip it's not really an up and down, but then if you one putt after the second attempt it kinda still is. The app I use doesn't discriminate in terms of the score, it just defines it as making one putt after a chip. I'm guessing it has a distance limit, but I haven't looked into all the details about how it works yet. I can't find where it counts the number of them either, it just lists a percentage.

First score in the 80’s in 15 rounds (Xmas Eve). Felt like I played solid but had 3 wipes and 3 soft bogies no birdies for 28pts off 1.
Stats tell the story.
