G'day lads, I hadn't played golf much in recent years but have got right back into it lately. I used to frequent iseekgolf.com back in the day and think I recognise some names here? Unfortunately it will be a while until I get to add to my list of courses played as I am having a stem cell transplant next week to try and cure the Follicular Lymphoma that is riding around in my body. But thought I'd say hi as I will be living vicariously, in part through you guys, for the coming months. Happy golfing.

Some decent courses there, Gasman. Good luck with the transplant.

A couple of new new courses for me in the last week or so.

Someone gave Tathra a massive wrap a while a go. Wished I played it last time I was up that way.

Its a beautiful little town, nice sitting out on the warf watching a bit of shark fishing.

It was pretty wet, but the fairways had movement, great grass coverage, and the greens were fast and pure. Group consensus was its the best 9 holer on the South Coast and worth a visit whenever you are down that way. The drive from Bermagui to Tathra could also be a Targa Tasmania stage

    16. The Bay @Pacific Bay.It's about to close down with the Coffs bypass work starting. It's not great, but a fun par 3 course off the back tees. It will be a loss for those who play golf once a year

Another new course to Chop around, unfortunately without local guide/flusher Jimandr to show me around.

Lots of trees, some interesting holes, but in all a typical regional members track.

Good luck. I've got trips to Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth for work, and I'll be taking my clubs. It has been a slow start to the year though; membership will do that.

Lowood is looking really good compared to my previous visits. Preferred lie is no longer a current rule, except for bare patches in the fairway, and I didn't find any of those.

Gailes is known as being one of the best courses in Brisbane for coping with the rain, and the fairways were in good condition and were not squelchy. Preferred lie was in play, but that was mostly to be able to lift and clean mud off the ball. What was disappointing was the state of some of the greens.

Carbrook was a bit soggy in the general areas, and preferred lie was in play; I think it is more for the potential mud on the ball to be cleaned off, rather than the actual lie. Getting a good bounce or no bounce is a bit of pot luck on many holes until it really dries out. Greens are rolling really nicely though, and I didn't see any issues in the bunkers.

Personally, I found it a tough test, and got found out with ball striking inconsistency and racked up too many penalty points with hazards and OOB.

It would have been but not as much as Northbridge, one of the "gems" of the Sydney Shitebelt.
