37 points today - was 20 after 8 and even par, had 2 points for the next 4, then finished the last 6 in 1 under.

    Golf is a funny game.

    31pts at North Haven Saturday
Only missed 2 drives the whole day. The old JDM Ryoma Maxima D1 that arrived during the week was so easy to hit well.
That’s about where it ended as from there iron shots were average to poor with pitch and chipping poor to s**t.
Putted well without making anything to make up for the poor shots.
Flag round and gain 0.3 so all is good.

    Default WDYSTM - January 2022

23/01/2021, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees, Social.

    Score: BPBBPPXPP BPPPBBBBX; 40:39:79 (+5:+7:+12).
    Played to 14.8. SCH: 8.8 (+0.0).

Despite a good net practice session during the week, and feeling good in the warmup, my swing with the irons still sucked. Putting was the strength of the day, where I never looked close to three putting, but they wouldn't drop either.

I now have my worst 5 round "played to" average for a year. At least I improved on last week's score by a shot.

Next round: I'm actually playing in the Saturday comp for a change.

An honest 36 points for me today, good enough for an entry to this thread, after two 32 point rounds in a row weren't good enough for inclusion.

I played OK without really striking the ball well, but the short game was good for once. By far the highlight was me declaring on the 8th tee that my partner and I needed birdie to win the hole against our handicap burgling opponents, and I did so. I rarely ever claim that I will birdie a hole in advance, because I rarely get birdies. That was fun.

Solo practice round today, nothing special with 88 but my main focus was on course practice. I'd often take two or three shots at a green or a fairway just working on the swing itself.
I have a matching set of three TM wedges (2nd hand) that my coach gave me yesterday to try for the week (4 rounds including today) to see if I'd like to buy them, so I had a number of extra hits with those as well. They went well too.
Tomorrow is a proper comp round at Oxley

Another round at Sandy Gallop, again a 10th tee start.

    BBPbPPbPP-PPBPbbBPX 72/36pts

Was running a bit late this morning, so didn't really get a chance to warm up and had a slow start, couple of lip-outs on the first two holes. Then put some decent golf together, with some good drives and very good wedges.

Even par on the 18th (9th) tee, which is a short 250m slight dog-leg right par 4. Decided to go for glory with driver, but it just ran down the right side of the green (pin-high) and into the penalty area. Poor chip, then 3 putted. Oh well, I gave it a go.

39 points at Oxley today (85 gross). Had a great run on the front 9, sitting at +1 after 8 holes, then leaked one right into the trees on 9 and ended up with a triple after a couple of stupid topped balls trying to get out. Swing got a bit loose on the back but still managed 17 points. Cap dropped 0.8 down to 17.8.

See one of the boys drive the 9th today for a hole in one. Pretty good effort.

Greenkeeps revenge Ambrose at North Haven yesterday. Fun day with a bit of strategy navigating the obstacles placed on the Greens.
We finished mid field with everyone contributing so we were happy with how we went on all but 1 hole.

I took the JBeam 535 Black out for its maiden hit. This driver is every bit of good as I hoped it would be. Need a practice day somewhere to compare the Titleist TS2 side by side for comparison.

Got up to Mareeba for a round this am with the Navy Golf Club.

First time ever playing of +1 was a bit of a shock

Very wet after a lot of rain up there overnight but played pretty decent - hard to make a lot of putts on those country greens.

I hear the locals putt with wedges.

Had to have an ordinary round sooner or later. 30 points at Oxley off the blue tees today. Not much to cheer about, I did hit some nice drives, hit a 3 iron from 200m to about 15 feet or so, chipped one in on 17.
7 fairways, 3 greens, 33 putts. Couldn't get anything to drop today.
Next round tomorrow, same place but white tees.

34pts at Mareeba on Friday playing off scratch for the first time. A couple of soft bogies offset by an eagle & a birdie from under the trees.

35pts at Cairns yesterday off 2. 5 birdies helped counter the 2 wipes.

After 120mm overnight the course was in pretty good nick.

Flipped the game around yesterday. Drove it pretty poorly, but putted and got it up and down really well - for the most part.

Went around the front in 9 straight pars.

Soft bogey on 11 but kept it on the straight and narrow, +1 thru 15.

Great drive on 16, just ripped the ball off the front fringe and didn’t get up and down, +2 thru 16.

Back left pin on 17 trying to get the bogey back - pulled left and bounced in the p!$$. Good up and down for bogey, +3 thru 17.

Hideous drive on 18, got up and found it lying in the rough about 100m out. Thinking about fking up the same holes yet again. Proceeded to hit a wedge to 3ft for the first birdie of the day

It was an ordinary practice 8 holes on Thursday, but I tried strengthening the grip for the last approach of the day with success. I kept with it for yesterday's comp round and it certainly helped the slice most of the time. I didn't bogey a hole until 15, but had three doubles on the card at that stage, plus a birdie on 8. Just the occasional shocker shots (pull OOB, chunk, shank, dome) killed what could have been a good score. At least the score is another improvement on the last few weeks.

Was even with the card after 7 yesterday, 17 points in the bag when the rain and lightning came and washed the day out

NTP on 5 was my consolation.

Today, backed it up with 38 points. Shame that was the team score in 4BBB

Groundhog Day for me today, one better off the stick, one worse for points with 29. I did at least get my putting back to where it's been the last couple of weeks with 28, but too many crap shots elsewhere. Won the only NTP for the day. Made par on a couple of holes I usually manage to screw up. Other than that pretty ordinary.
