Forget the tees, hang around greens.

Gold Creek off the plates in the first ACT DGA OOM event of the year. Smashed by rain and a thunderstorm, somehow we didn't get stopped where GL had the siren blow and cancelled their comp 1lm away.

Four doubles, two birdies, 83/75. Couldn't get off the tee on the front 9 and just leaked silly shots.

35 points for me today 18/17.

This round has me confused, I'm uncertain as to whether I should feel thrilled that I came close to playing to my handicap or annoyed that I left so many shots out there.

36pts, 4 wipes, 2 one-pointers, 3 birds, 2 other lip out birds, still lost all the money - both nines and overall.

    Golf is weird.

Had a 4 foot putt for par on 1. Snuck a 4 footer in for double.

Birdied 18 to sneak 84/76 and came 40th overall. Beat all but the plus marker and former club champ from the 8 in our club who played. Happy with that.....

One day they will submit the cards and I may get handicapped on the rounds.

Can't hurt to take a couple on the practice green and find something that gives a good roll.
I bought an Odyssey stroke lab 7, has changed my putting. I also worked on getting a good pre shot, from working out the putt distance to slope and speed. I have seen a 2 or 3 stroke improvement.

    Default WDYSTM - January 2022

16/01/2021, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees, Social.

    Score: XBXXBBPPB PBPbBPPBB; 45:35:80 (+10:+3:+13).
    Played to 15.8. SCH: 8.8 (+0.1).

After the mess of the last round, I gave myself a couple of weeks away from the game. On my return, I was greeted with a drive that didn't even hit the face and heeled into a hazard, three double bogeys in the first four holes including a shanked chip, and nine over through six holes.

Found a half decent swing on the seventh, and kept it tidy for the rest of the round with just four over for the last twelve holes.

Next round: Another WP Sunday afternoon social round in the heat.

Social hit with a mate at Oxley this arvo, finished with 81 in a better display than I have done recently.
The front 9 I shot 37 (+3), including a birdie after nearly hitting my drive into the water on the 4th. Second shot from this spindly grass with the ball well above my feet wound up about 8 feet from the pin. Was nice to see what I can do when I can put the stuff from the lessons into practice more consistently on course.
Unfortunately the back 9 began with two double bogeys in the first 4 holes, but I was able to get things more under control with a bogey on 14 before finishing with 4 straight pars, rather than the usual capitulate like the English batsmen and have a rubbish back 9.

Overall hit 8 fairways, 7 greens and 32 putts.

Even par off the stick off a 5hcp last Saturday at Penrith.
3 birds, 3 bogies & 3 massive lip outs with no speed on the ball, bugga!
Let’s see if we can back it up this Saturday.

Solo hit at Oxley this arvo. Went around the front 9 in +5 and then it decided to piss down rain when I got to the 8th green. Waited at the clubhouse until it passed before playing the back, but the grips were a little damp, and all my gloves were also, so I played without them for the rest of the round which felt a little odd. I wasn't going too badly until the final two holes which were both doubles, pushing it out to +8 and 84 overall.
Still, good swing practice for Gailes tomorrow.

Are you a member at Oxley or Gailes? Wouldn't mind a round at Gailes next week...

At Oxley I am. Just decided to play in Gailes competition tomorrow. I'm back at work next Thursday so just getting in on the Friday comps while I can

Finished with 95/75 in the Gailes comp today. Lost my swing a little on the front 9 but was able to get it back enough on the back to keep it in play most of the time. Didn't start well with a lost ball off the first tee, but birdie on the second was nice, before a few holes of garbage. Pretty much played bogey golf on the back 9 with a chip in birdie on 16. 8 fairways, 2 greens (although 5 or 6 fringes), 29 putts. With a free burger after the round it was a good day for $25

33 points at Sandy Gallop, my first round in what feels like an eternity. Hit it alright & got off to a bit of a flier, but chipping game was a bit rusty and struggled with some fluffy lies I'm not used to. 14cm approach on 12 should hold up to give me a few balls.

Really let a good round get away from me. Finishing the last three bogey, double, bogey for 73 (actually +2 on the white course).

Had ~100mm of rain overnight but the course was surprisingly good.

    14/17 for 31 points
I was nervous as hell and not swinging freely for the first few holes, couldn't get a feel. Slowly worked into it and hit some nice shots and started rolling in some putts.
    3 birdies
Drove the ball poorly for 11 holes then found a smooth swing, short irons were ok, bladed 2 chip shots.

90/70 at Oxley in my social club today for 38 points. Couldn't really get my swing going properly on the back 9 (our front 9) but played better on the front. 7 fairways, 3 greens, 28 putts. I'm really liking my new putter now that I've gotten more used to the heavier weight. It's essentially the same style as my old one so not much different there. 3 rounds in a row under 30 putts now.Lesson tomorrow morning, then rounds Tuesday and Wednesday before I go back to the reality of work on Thursday 👎

Had 71 with 40 points there yesterday. That's a great shot in on 12 too. Tough green to hold at any time.
