Had a shocker yesterday at Oxley in the black markers stroke comp, 102/82. Just one of those days where nothing really went right, except the ball repeatedly into the trees. The front 9 wasn't my best but wasn't too bad. After a couple of pars to start the back 9 I thought I might be able to post a respectable score but instead everything just fell apart for the rest of the round.

I think what topped it off was hitting the tee shot on 16 to the fairway, then hitting a fairway wood and losing the ball after I and nobody else in the group saw where my second shot went. 🙄

Hopefully will have a better round tomorrow morning at Virginia in the first social club game of the year.

    Monthly medal today
    80/67 (par is 66)

Choke fest on the back nine after only being +5 on the front 🤬

    Medal today.
Had booster shot yesterday, fatigue got me in the end. Unlucky double on 8, then stupid triple on 14.
84/75, back down to my lowest point of the last twelve months.

Have been plagued with very poor putting recently.

Put an old becu Pind Anser4 in the bag and it was amazing.

20 points around the front nine, including a bogey, double bogey finish for 20 points. Lost a ball on the 17th with my second shot on a par 5 and I still don't know how.

Lost a ball on the last that was tracking toward the green and none of my playing partners saw it.

Wipe, wipe to finish with 32 points.

Interesting round today at Oxley. Was hot and cold - ended up with 36 pts - good enough for 5th overall in my 1st comp in 18 years. Hands were slippery in the humidity - I swear I nearly lost control on a couple of swings more than I usually do.

Pretty lush, some puddles and casual water around but overall pretty good. Greens were fantastic, I just couldn't get used to the speed. Some I hit with good weight, others flew past the hole, but they rolled true.

1st round of the year, so I was going to post it anyway.

40 points is a very good chance to be my best round all year. It was better than any round in 21.

I played really well in all aspects of the game. Sometimes this game seems impossible. Today it was fairly easy. I can't explain it, but I'll enjoy the good while I can.

Warrnambool today, played with a local down here, Mark Jeansch. What a great bloke, hard to play in ocean breeze, made some pars and bogies but had a good hit on the front 9.
Back 9 was better, 13th hole 1 inch putt for birdie, 14th 2 foot putt for birdie, 15th hit it to 8 feet but slid the birdie putt past on the hi side.3 pars to finish, I was 1 over on the back 9.

Well done, considering the heat you’ve done well.

Let us know when you can host us at Glenelg sometime, might come with a boomerang meaning you don’t need an open day

38 today, with three 3 putt bogies on the back 9.

79 off the stick, cap will crash down again. GA was 9.2 on NYE, now down into the 6s inside a fortnight. Haven't been there for 2 years.

33 points at Oxley today. Didn't drive that well but irons and putting were decent. Highlight was two birdies in a row on the front 9, one was a NTP 69cm from the pin.
Not many fairways or greens, 27 putts.

Next round Friday, if I can straighten up the driving and keep the irons and putting going pretty good I should be able to drop the cap a bit more. It went down 0.2 after today.

Ha ha ha, c'mon mate, you know that's not how golf works. You can't have it all on one day. Something different always fails.

I can and I will 😂 maybe not tomorrow, but one day. Since having lessons my irons have improved, ball striking itself was always fairly decent but direction was random. That's largely fixed now. Just gotta get more practice in with my driver...when it stays out of trees naturally my scores are better.

32 points yesterday off the blue tees at Oxley. Driving was a little better but still not great, but I'll get there. Still dropped my cap by 0.1.

Next round is a social hit there on Monday arvo with a mate, I'll probably get a range session and another round in before Friday when I'm playing in the black markers comp at Gailes. Tomorrow I'm going to see the PGA, first time going to a tournament like this.
