    Default WDYSTM - December 2021

23/12/2021, Wolston Park, Blue Tees, Social.

    Score: bbPPBBBPP PPPPBPPPB; 36:34:70 (+1:+2:+3).
    Played to 5.3. SCH: 8.3.

I still haven't had that paid for, but not booked, lesson for my bad iron game, and in the meantime I have continued to play well since I organised it. The longer driving from last week was not a fluke, and continued today. The approaches were consistent and if anything, too long at times, but more importantly, no stinker shots. I may need to re-calibrate my distances. The let down today was my green reading; I was mostly striking it well, but to the wrong spot a few times, which led to sloppy bogies.

Equal lowest score this year, and first time since June, when I thought I had found some form, before falling in a heap. I'm hoping that I can keep playing like this for a while longer.

    Next round: Open to offers.

Nice round. I'll be up in January (towards the end), we could play somewhere.

Reasonable round today for me too, although left a few out there with some lazy bogies:

    PbPBPbBPP-BPbPBPBBP 73/38pts

Maybe, although I have played there fairly recently.

    Default WDYSTM - December 2021

Got a call yesterday afternoon to have a hit with my dad and his usual group today.
Think I’ll do some damage to my played off 12 (10.9) hcp.
    3 doubles, 4 birdies for 40pts (19-21)
Course was in great condition and greens smooth and true. Picked up a couple of premium balls for a birdie on the par 3 8th.

Well played. TTG does do good prizes for birdies and NTPs.

I went for a muck around/practice round at Oxley today. There was a comp on but I didn't go in it. Perhaps I should have, ended up shooting 81 (+10) which on my current handicap would have been 44 points.
After 16 holes I needed a par and a birdie on the final two to break 80 for the first time, but unfortunately bogeyed the 17th. Still, enjoyed the round. New putter went well too, 30 overall with 13 on the back 9.

Fatigue building up over Christmas had my game a bit off in yesterday's round. I started as if I was continuing from my good round last week, but some pulls crept in, including a massive one with a 7I OOB on 4. I got it under control, but things were scratchy overall. The swing didn't fall in a heap though, so I'm not discouraged by this round.

Next round: Tomorrow morning, or Friday. I haven't booked anything yet.

I can't break 34 points at the moment.

Keep dropping shots in the last three holes.

    It's starting to annoy me

I had that problem for ages, just recently started getting more drives on the fairway, anything on or around the green is ok, then in for par

Well that was one that got away. How can you be disappointed with +2 of the stick? When you bogey 4 of the last 6 holes.

    bPPPBbPPP-bPPBPPBBB 72/39pts

Nearly chipped in for eagle on 7 (6 inches). Had really good looks at birdie (8-15ft) on 4, 8, 9 and 10 that I didn't convert. Oh well.

Back when I was playing regular at Kapunda most likely. When I was on there the course gave up multiple birdies.

That really does look like one that got away finishing like that. Some nerves creeping in knowing you were on a good one.

Played in the Wednesday comp at Half Moon Bay for 32 points. Wet conditions and a shank OOB on the first hole did not help although, it could have been worse. Birdie on two of the par 3s winning me $20 on my account was the highlight.

    Score: PXPXPXBPB PXBbBXPBP; 44:43:87 (+8:+7:+15); stab 14:14:28pts.

Well, that was yuk. Driving was on and off, but Ipswich doesn't let you have off, so I got fully penalised for the bad ones. It peaked when I picked up on the tee at 11 after putting two OOB. For some reason, I drove it well after that.

Putting was bad too. I think the fast practice green scared me, and I never adjusted. It was a real setback in my current putting confidence.

Highlight of the day was hitting a straight 271m drive on the par 5 13th, then hitting an intentional, but unnatural draw around a stupid fairway encroaching tree onto the green, and two putting from 14m for birdie. Kakaaaa!

Next round: I'm thinking of returning to safety and playing at home tomorrow morning, although I really need to go to the gym.

What's Ipswich like? Last time I played there the greens were the only places with grass... I played all my junior golf at Ipswich, back before the redesign.

They've had too much water recently, as nine holes had been out of play a month ago. Bunkers only just got put back into play this week.

As I said, rough is up if you miss the fairways by enough. Some fairways are pretty dry, otherwise I wouldn't be hitting a 271m drive, but others were fine (probably those lower in the course). They are playing preferred lie though, but it was only a few holes were it was noticeable to me.
