    Default WDYSTM - December 2021

Been playing sort of crap for the last few weeks, including being disqualified last week in club champs.Today was round 3 and December MM.
Bloody battery was flat in the Mazda, so I piled my crap into the work ute, got to the committee meeting just on time.Meeting finished, had a few putts and off to first tee.No breakfast, just a coffee.
Felt pretty good on the first, made an up and down for par, and just sort of rolled on.
This was probably one of the easiest rounds I have ever played.Hit driver, hit green and make par.
    72/65 , 1 over par.
    3 bogies
    2 birdies
    25 putts
    Winner
My best score around Beaconhills golf links.

    Nice one Joe, well done.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Played the semi-final of club champs today (heads up matchplay). Like last week it was another great battle. I went 1dn on the second hole with a 3 putt bogey but then won the next four holes to take a 3up lead. Lost the next 2 holes with a couple of compounded errors before I made a great par save on 9 with an up and down from about 60m - 8 iron under a tree and over a mound to 6 feet. That put me up 2up thru 9. I dropped 2 shots over the next 5 holes and it was all square thru 14 before I knocked in a 25 foot birdie putt on 15 to go 1up. Then proceeded to give 16 away with a poor tee shot and lost ball - back to all square. We both had a rough hole on 17 but I managed to win it before closing out with a "good bogey" on the index 1 18th hole for the win. Onto the final next week.

    Bogey-double finish for +3 nett.

At least I didn’t have to pick up in a stroke round this time. That’s a win.

Club champs has ended, so golf is easy again. Back to back 36 point rounds, where up by 3 shots at some point. Looking forward to this weekends trip away.

Final of club champs today. 27 hole matchplay for B Grade. My opponent started birdie, birdie and before I knew it I was 6 down thru 9. Battled back on the second 9 to get it to 1 down thru 18 and had all the momentum. Thru 23 holes I took a 1up lead, then gave it back, then took it again. 1up with 1 to play. Had a 4 foot breakinf putt to win it all on the 27th hole but lipped out. All square through 27 holes. Ended up losing on the first playoff hole.

Great fight back. Still a good result to get so far from just making the cut without taking the final prize.
