Default Club fitting SE Queensland recommendation, is Cool Clubs still the best?

Looking to do a clubfitting session for my birthday, mainly want to check what shafts suit me best, especially in the woods, maybe some gapping top and bottom of the bag, and just check all the new kit that has come out in the last 6 years.

Is Cool Clubs on the Gold Coast still the best bet?

5-6 years ago they were the place to go, just wanted to make sure there weren't any other new options I should look at.

Great place for a fit, be prepared to donate a Kidney if you want to buy there.

I havent used anyone here myself, i dont need to ATM. If i needed I would go to Garry Calder who taught Zane ( who created CC) still does fitting assessmemts $135 ph. I think he is at Brisbane GC. ( google knows where). I have asked around and whilst there are lots of people that do fitting, there are apparently no standouts.

This is a reason that I have avoided fitting sessions. I'm not interested in buying the latest new gear worth thousands of dollars. I want recommendations on shafts, heads, etc, that I can source myself secondhand, when and if I decide to. Cool Clubs reads like they expect you to get the build done with them, because only they know how to build properly from the information they gather from the fitting.

    Kind of.

If you pay attention to the labels on the clubs they give you, you can get a close approximation.

They always give flex in FCM on their reports, which means nothing without a frequency machine. When I did my fitting I paid close attention to the shafts we installed - they had the shaft label and flex still attached.

I then went and built them myself for about 40% of their price.

Cool Clubs do offer a flat fee for a fitting assessment and you can walk away and do it yourself, if you choose to get them to make the clubs for you, they refund/offset the fitting fee.

I think the old school clubfitter/maker will soon be a dinosaur(if not already) in australa, due to our small market, and as most retail outlets have a bunch of technology now to do it for them. However you are stuck with the big brands if you do that, yet build quality is still going to be suspect for sure.
