With a change in life plus the hope the dodgy shoulder is finally fixed, I am contemplating a return to Sydney golf club membership.
    Closest options to my new neighbourhood (Padstow) are;
    Bankstown
    George's River
    The Ridge
Like both courses for their own little highs and both have lows.

Haven't considered Cabra as it just has too many scars, never had a good game there ever! Also a little too far from home.

    Any Ozgolf recommendations?

I'd definitely go with Bankstown if it's that close. I haven't played golf since these ****ed up lockdowns because of the 5km rule. Bankstown is usually in good condition and the greens have been great of late. Better than some of the more expensive clubs I've been at. 6 day membership is a bargain if you can get in. 7 day member isn't bad either. The main down side to Bankstown is that the comp fee is pretty high ($25) compared to other clubs (most clubs around $15). But as the yearly fees are quite low compared to some and what they used to be there, it works out ok I think. There's no joining fee either so you'd be able to join and see what you thought of it without any risk. Membership year is financial year.

If you're only going to play sporadically, I'd do the ridge membership as it's cheap and they'll maintain your handicap - then just play Sundays at Bankstown, or Sat at the Ridge if you can, though I've heard that joint is super hard to get a booking atm. Unless you're planning on playing Bankstown every weekend, not sure it's worth it @ ~$1900 a year plus $25 comp fees.

Ohh my bad, thought it was my distinct lack of golf ability and entering bets I can't win.

Georges River or Bankstown doesn't matter. Half your tee shots will end up on the other course anyway.

Great to see you back, and I hope things will be smoother from now on.

Next step... Kick the virus, and revive the Antarctica Trophy.

    Thanks Dotty

Bring back the games like Canberra Matchplay, they were the best and some of the true Ozgolf highlights.
Who can forget my mental destruction of a former Ozgolfer with a very adventurous game. Or the post match show?
    Or the epic four putt

Did not give it much thought until you mentioned it.
Liked New Brighton and for some reason I have the impression that it is half done by a home developer with no consideration for the golfer.

Bob Harrison and Scott Champion did 6-7 brand new holes on the southern side of the M5 that look good. And the redevelopment didn’t affect the 10 or so holes closest to the river. Clubhouse is good — I have a project I work on nearby and go there for lunch a bit. Solid vibe and good food.

    Potentially cheapest membership in Sydney.

Not a member, but live close by... Major works going on there at present... totally new green complexes 1, 9, 10, 18. New tee on 1, 10. Remodelling 5,6, 10 fairways. New putting green and New club house.

As such currently playing lots of temporary holes.

Will be much better once complete but reckon its a good year away.
