Default Shims- has anyone installed them?

    Hey All,

Just bought some shims to shaft .355 to .370 head. Just wanted to know if I need to do anything different while shafting?

Thanks, wasn’t sure. Prior I’ve used tape at the tip of the shaft to hold firmly but, eventually the glue turned to powder and the head flew off. Thanks again

I just did exactly this, same size shims as you mention. Steps I took. Prep the shaft and head. I put some epoxy on the end of the shaft, dropped a shim onto the shaft and covered the shim in epoxy. Then added a little to the head, inserted shaft into head then clean up the excess. I think more critical to ensure the hosel is clean of any previous epoxy to ensure a good glued connection. No heads have come flying off yet!

I use them all the time. I find cutting half the prongs off means you can get epoxy to connect the hosel to the shaft. I cut every second one to leave 3 even spaced prongs.

Leave them all on and it creates a barrier (if that makes sense). Also easy to get it all to fit together.

I have made my own out of soft drink cans before, works a treat. But the bought work well just make sure you epoxy on all surfaces, and make sure you use the heavy duty epoxy

    this !

But the secret is 12-24 hour epoxy. 5 min turns to dust with the side to side movement with any warm temperatures.

Thanks Definitely will be using 24hr epoxy. I played a vardon event and the the first hole my 3i head flew off. Couldn’t concentrate any hole with a creek. One of the worst games ever! Haha
