It is being driven buy the amount of new golfers on the scene in the younger age groups. Check out the quality kit of many young tradies taking up the game. Older guys think if a f...... tradie can have a kit like that why not me.
Every second ball you come across in the ruff at Nudgee GC is the latest model pill. Go back 10 years and you would be lucky to come across a useable Srixon.

They are all hybrids with Senior flex... just to help him get the ball in the air.

Noting prices have jumped a bit and this is by no means a justification but how good looking is the latest crop of irons across all the brands atm. Examples below.

    Titleist T100,T200, 690MB
    TM P770, P790, P7MB
    Cally Apex MB, Apex Pro
    Mizuno JPX range and MP20
    Srixon ZX irons

I feel like it's been a while since almost all manufacturers had such a good offering of great looking clubs. Most drivers are looking pretty great these days also.

Still I do think golf prices could be much more affordable.

Average wage in 1980 was $200pw, full set of sticks around $800 from memory. Single driver less then $100.

Today average wage, is $1300, so relative price for clubs would be $5000

So seems todays prices are relatively not expensive

That has got me a few times.. Mizuno 919 forged for $699 - then realise it is 7-GW... WTF do i do with 7-GW ?

    You sure?

I seem to remember some super shaft in it at the time that was the big upsell... We all put Graf Blue's in them. (757 Speeder Shaft ??? I think)

Callaway GBB II driver was $900 (and fairways $600), around Y2K.
I think the ERC may have been even higher.

I remember the blue GBB II were common amongst the 'got a great deal direct from the manufacturer in China' players, and local warranty issues.

The clubs are not depreciating like they use to.. i think that is where we notice it. I dont think i have ever bought new clubs, so the new prices are sort of mute.

I am almost positive OzGolf have supplied all my clubs plus a few hand me downs from Tour Mates.

And last i saw scotty was releasing the same putters in different colours and calling it the new year version.. sort of like Apple iPhones.

Default WTF with golf club pricing ?

I just paid $205 for a brand new TM Soto putter, looks and feels just as good as any Scotty, Evnroll or Betty putter that I have purchased.

Despite the price increases there are still good bargains to be had. I paid around $950 for my set of ZX-7 irons

Remember these being sold at Daimaru, reckon they were also being sold at over the RRP. Was a cool little golf shop, but everything was 10-50% more expensive than everywhere else.

Cool. That means the domestic price in USA is unchanged!
