Jordan Speith is my pick.
A bit more width in the fairways (compared to the last time) course looks amazing for an early morning round.
I cannot wait to play it one day when visiting reciprocal Deal down the road.
Doak notes it’s the best links course in England and he is the best judge of GCA in the world (IMO).
I’ve never played it but watching the VHS of Norman in 93 has always had me fascinated with the course.

Faldo really razzing Bryson, love it!
Have Detry and Kisner at 200 plus. Hatton is my pick.
Played at Royal Cinque Ports just down the road, was due to play RStG the following but tripped over my golf bag in the BnB going for a 3am wizz and put my arm through a mirrored door on the wardrobe. Lot of blood and stitches.
As you should. The coverage is brilliant.
I haven't watched any of the standard channel, but I watched the featured holes 14,15,16 for a while. It was great, and even better, my favourite commentator, Sam Torrance, was doing it. I switched to feature group 2, with Spieth and Bryson. Watching a feature group is a great way to see the entire course.
Bryson has been very interesting. So far, he's shown me the wrong way to play, because missing fairways is poison, but he's also shown how good he is when he stays on the fairways.

Loving the bunker microphone on #11, all that shell grit sand hitting it on every shot

Great to see Louis picking up where he left off at the US Open in the form department. He didn't lead after round one in 2010 when he won but he was only 2 behind Rory and led from then on. Could be a good sign and given all the good results he's had in the majors the last few years, he's just about due. Just saying............
Doesn’t like his driver.

Watched about 4 hours on and off last night. Not sure why there is hate for the course across some commentators. Accurate tee shots get rewarded, bomb and gouge is difficult in foot deep rough. The pins were tricky without being stupid, and the place looks like it will firm up as the tournament progresses. Looking forward to wearing out the remote control over the next few nights between golf and Silverstone

I'm watching with a hint of regret. My family and I were all booked in for the open last year. 3 days of golf for 5 of us, staying at the tent village on the practice fairway. What are my chances of getting to St Andrews next year I wonder?
Same boat BITS. I was in a group trip to Portrush NI that included a visit to the Open yesterday and today.
But its rescheduled for same time next year... not sure if we will go to St Andrews also.
BTW. its the 40th anniversary of the 1981 Open at Royal St Georges, won by Bill Rogers who disappeared from golf just a few years later.
After that he worked in the golf business for the rest of his life, still plays and practises several days a week, loves the game and is still a fine golfer.
If anyone would like to know the story how he went from the best player in the world to a club pro in a handful of years I can share a PDF of his short book... ( i have permission to share it)
Gees that’s a lot of land!
Fit another course or 2 in there!

There's a course either side of royal St georges. Plus it's like a gated community or something like that from memory.
