    Default Best Current Stand Bag

The last threads on this topic were way back in 2015/6, so I thought it was worth starting a new one. My 9 year old Ogio Grom XX is at the end of its life, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement, but don't know where to start. What's good these days?

I see that Golfbox has a sale on at the moment, so I gravitated to the Ogio Woode 8 at $304, or maybe a Ping Hoofer for the same price.

I have a 2020 Ping hoofer and love it. I don't have much to compare it to though.

I have a mizuno br-d3 that I like, but a friend hated his and sold it. My (limited) experience is that stand bags are a bit personal - what sits well and is comfortable for one person may not be as good for someone else.

We’ve had sun mountain H2NO bags and can’t fault them.

I also have an Ogio Aquatech stand bag that I like. I did have a quick look and they don’t seem to stock and stand bag of the aquatech anymore, only the cart bags.

I believe Mizuno bags are made by Sun Mountain but happy to be corrected.

I bought a Jones utility last year, looks cool but the legs are not very good and the build quality is average.

Have a Mizzy K1-LO on the way to replace my mini leg Callaway bag that was tearing paint off my expensive graphite shafts

Andy I had an Ogio with the Woode top maybe 10years ago and absolutely loved it.

Woods/hybrids down one side irons on the other, pretty much how I have aligned standbags ever since.

Of all the standbags I’ve got and used the Nike Hybrid is easily the best- probably a bit hard to find new.

My Hoofer must be more than a decade old now. Granted, not much use I guess.

Yeah I agree with this. I've had a number of them as well and struggle to find anything comparable.

Why have you needed a number of them, Courty? How long are they lasting? Or are you changing them just because you can?

    Colour coordination and just cause!!

I can vouch that they’re lasting well beyond the time he’s got them.

I just bought a honma bag off Ebisu at 20% off. Will see how it goes. It has 6 holes. Not really a fan of the 14 hole bags and a lot of the other bags are 4 or 5. The new Ogio Woode hybrid looked good though.

My current bag is 14 way, but I get the feeling it was a Woode like system in the bag that I had before that. I definitely have not complaints about the number and types of pockets in the current bag.

Finding the right hole once you hit your shot, want to offload immediately and get moving, if you get anything stuck at the bottom it’s a nightmare trying to get it out unless there is access at the bottom of bag (my old Yes! Bag didn’t have it)

No good with fat grips and your heads move around a lot more with all that room between the clubs

14 way is horrible. can get more than 2 clubs in one hole, cant put any in upside down.

Ping Hoofer is apparently the jam now.

Yep, hate the 14 way. Learnt that after getting my first 14 way cart bag. 5 or 6 for me, though I can handle a putter well as well. My clubs have to go in my bag a specific way, and generally the 14 way tops don't work for that.

I experimented with a few before buying a Sun Mountain (probably in the pro shop). Superb bags, very lightweight, mine is 10 years old, has been dragged all over the place and still in good nick. We had 8 of us playing at one of the courses in the US, bags are lined up, caddies came out, there was a bit of a rush for my bag which is probably a good indicator.

Not sure if its relevant given the age of my bag but the cover is a bit of a pain.

They aren't selling that one. You can find items on golftrader via google searches, but if you actually go through the search on their site, or just their menus, some items don't show, and that one only allows you to add to a wishlist and not cart.

I did a quick look around for Sun Mountain H2NO bags and they seem to be going at $440, which is a decent chunk more than the $300 mark for the Ping Hoofer, or Ogio Woode. I did find a 14-way H2NO lite for $340 though.

Jeeze they are expensive! They'd want to last as long as some say for that price. I thought 300 for a ping was a lot! I remember I paid 300 for my Hoofer 13 years ago!

13 years? Think about improvements in materials, tech, design and inflation.

$400 for a golf bag that will last 10+ years is basically renting it for $40 a year.

    That’s $400 in today’s money anyway.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!
