    Default Maleny GC

Just spent a week in QLD and played the following...
    Twin Waters
    Pelican Waters
    Headland GC
    Maroochy River
    Maleny GC &
    Royal Queensland

I have to say that RQ is super disappointing, Twin Waters whilst well kept is just boring. Headland ok likewise was Maroochy & Pelican BUT Maleny GC was the absolute stand out. This course is an amazing test of skill and really fun golf course.

I’d go as far as saying that it’s the best layout on the Sunshine Coast!!

This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.

Agree, Maleny is a fun, but challenging course. Lots of holes with different options once you know the layout.
ps. take a few extra golf balls

I realise how old I'm getting when someone quotes Caddyshack (released 1980), yells out Bueller, wax on/wax off or something else from the 80s and a "young person" just looks confused.

That aside, will check out Maleny if I ever return to Qld.

It was different. I wouldn't climb the mountain if I was back living on the Sunny Coast every weekend to play it. So I wouldn't recommend you make the trip north of the tweed just to play it.

Maybe not every weekend for me, but I'd definitely like a few revisits.

There are a couple of par3s that I would include in my worse 18holes I have played. Ask 3pp how he won our match on 17.

It’s my favourite course in Qld. I’ll play it every time I go back. Great land movement, firm greens with a lot of contouring and a bit of quirk in the layout. It’ll never have the conditioning of a RQ but it’s great fun.

I think it's a pretty good track, but too many blind tee shots combined with ball losing rough knocks it down a little for me. We spent ages trying to find balls on 4 or 5 holes. You just have no idea if you are going to find fairway or not.

Have yet to see 1 pinned in a way where you can get it a putt to stop within 3 feet of the hole either.

The upside is it's always been in decent nick when I've played it, and it's very different to everything else in South East Qld.

There is no extended version, it was a very short putt.

One might argue I was unlucky to have to putt it.

I think the word you’re looking for is strategic.

    It can eat a penal.

If 3pp ain’t going to tell the full story. One of us chunks their tee shot barely past the ladies. Hits his pitch almost as fat but it rolls down the hill towards the flag. Stops inches short of the hole. Taps in his par. The other flushes his 9iron lands just left of the flag and begins to roll towards the flag, passes the flag and continues its way almost off the right side of the green. Double breaking putt that just misses. Taps in for par. Loses the match.

I’ll let you figure out who is who. It is a shit hole with a shit green. You are correct Benno 1 is worse.

Pretty sure they’re all strategic. Anyway, I agree about the two blind tee shots, but they’re only blind the first time and if you hit a mid iron you’re fine.

Sounds like one of you hit a great bump and run.
