Default Course work to begin on Seven Mile Beach in Hobart (from GCA)

This project has been mentioned elsewhere here previously but seems it may get off the ground with construction starting later this year

Will be able to watch the construction from my kitchen window. I thought this proposal had died a few years a go.

Got to be happy with spike in realestate values down there. Scratch my head why though as 90% of the people who work are on minimum wage or close to it.

We moved to Dodges Ferry in May last year and have views over 7 mile and surrounds its pretty speccy! Speaking with long time locals, these areas are changing dramatically with a lot of professional families moving and settling long term. There are plently of interstaters buying property and a lot more moving down. But the Rental market (both Air BNB and residential) is huge and yield is much better than most capital cities.

@thecollective it appears this is a much scaled down version, origianlly it had a realestate component to it as well.

I had a house on Bally Park Rd in Dodges Ferry but sold up as a guy turned up with a shotgun on my back porch wanting to end me.
I was out at the time and he went back to his house that night and hung himself. He was married with kids but was upset with me for dating his ex girlfriend.
My neighbour asked me if I got the shotgun as he saw him on the back porch and thought he was just returning it.
Found a note a few days later that was under my back door that ended with.

Holy FK! Scary as hell. Do not blame you for leaving. We've lived in some sketchy places and travelled to some really bad places, but nothing like that!

Its still got that rough feeling in parts, but a lot of the shacks are getting turned over. We're up on the hill so a bit removed from it. Its much queiter here than Glenorchy or our former places in Melbourne.

Why does all the best sites (sandbased) for golf courses only seem to be where the weather is crappy?

Would it be possible to relocate Tasmania to somewhere off the NSW north coast.

After living here for more than 12 months, I don't reckon its that crappy (even after a wet winter). Its better than Melbourne and Sydney and anywhere north in summer, and winter has a lot of super clear sunny days perfect for playing golf.

Generally Hobart has less rainfall than all other capital cities other than Perth.

I don't want to kill a good generalization with some data but according to the BOM, Melbourne has the least average rainfall of any capital city, followed by Adelaide and then Hobart. Days without rain might be a different story.

    ANNUAL Rainfall (mm)
    Melbourne 518
    Adelaide 547
    Hobart 569
    Canberra 602
    Perth 734
    Sydney 1042
    Brisbane 1080
    Darwin 1812

Damn you with your stats, I think that it may have been the case a few years a go and everyone (including myself) have used it since.

Stand by the weather not being as shit as people are led to believe though.

Hippo, a mate of mine would hate you, all through the 80s/90s he was an accomplished liar and got away with all sorts. Very fond of saying these days, "google ruined my life".

If the weather down south is so great how come so many head north in winter?

The above makes a lot of sense. Based on my experience (I lived in Melbourne for 6 years) there are a lot of frequent showers but the duration is far shorter than other states.

SA has similar weather to Victoria once you head down the peninsula, makes sense really as the two states are relatively close to each other

Brisbane gets plenty of rainfall, but it all comes down at once.
