I've often herd reception problems are the main issues with Vodafail once your out in regional/country areas.
The Minister is on Vodafail while I'm on Teslstra (work phone). We've seen hers have no/poor reception a lot more than mine when out in the country.
S.A has lots of mobile black spots under 2-3 hours from CBD. There's whole regional towns where I don't have a strong enough reception to pick up the things in the game I play.

This is relation to Vodafail Mr Bluu.
The Minister has a had a few issues along the way when when getting a phone for little Miss Minister. Issues were related to getting a SIM only plan and using that in the Ministers previous contracted device with Vodafail. I think there was also some problems when she changed from Virgin to Vodafail initially 6-7 years ago. They were helpful in sorting them out but I think it took a few goes.

Thanks for the feedback Hatch. We bit the bullet today with Vodafone. Will see how it goes. Its only month to month so can always change.

Telstra simply has more extensive coverage, always has, always will. Voda and Optus simply not interested to compete with that tiny segment of the market.

For anyone needs coverage outside of metropolitan areas they would be nuts not to use Telstra.

Just signed my wife up with Aldi Mobile, $15 for 3gb per month on the Telstra network. Might have jumped a little early with Aldi and after reading some really bad reviews I have cancelled the SIM order. I have signed myself up for Moose mobile $19.80 for 20gb per month they seem to get good reviews so I thought I'd give them a crack. Will probably port the wife over to them too.

Seems like there are issues around automatic recharges and people's excess data not rolling over to the next month. Poor customer service too.

You need to be on recharge to get the rollover. Never had an issue with it at all.

customer service I have not dealt with, but you will get that on all cheap providers.

And it's a little known fact only Boost gets the "full" Telstra service. The rest are just resellers of the wholesale network. Some slight difference in regional areas, but for me only Telstra or Boost are a consideration.

Edit: check the slider graphic in this web page to see the difference:
