Can't wait, interesting that some of the players are already calling the course "unfair".

This coverage is perhaps my favourite single golf TV experience of the year. Because, if it is the same as previous years, it starts with the first group, and you see every player hit off the first tee for a couple of hours. Lots of people you never see on TV, you see many different ways to swing, and sometimes, different strategies off the first tee.

As to the event, as usual I have no idea who wins. I imagine it will be a highly prominent player, but there is a chance of a really big upset. For the record, my small wagering stakes will go on DJ, Bryson, Rory, Patrick Reed and Ian Poulter as my long shot bet.

From what I can see only Langer called it unfair, and he isn't even playing. Just another Journalist beat up.

To be fair Langer only said it was the "most unfair" of all the open courses. That suggest other courses are also not fair.

And he probably didnt even come forward to say it either. The media will have gone out of their way to propogate the unfairness of the course and ask the players about it, then write up the headlines as if the players are whinging about it.

I would suggest he is not fond of it since he sliced it OB on #14 when tied with Norman in the final round of the 93 Open!

Mods, can we please copy posts about The Open from here and post them in a separate "The Open 2021" thread. The best and most important championship of the year deserves to have its own thread. J.A.T

I remember that! And it wasnt an unlucky bounce. Both Norman and Langer played awesome golf that day.

I also quite enjoyed all the first tee coverage. Something different.

We can't see it on our Tv's because Fox aren't showing the WGC event, but apparently Cam Smith had a total of 18 putts in his 62 today.

This is one of the most unbelievable stats I've ever heard.

I didn't see his last few holes, but he was missing greens then sinking everything. Including a chip in and sinking a putt from off the green.

I've got to go check out the highlights.

I also counted 8 Aussies in the field since there's a few euro tour players competing.

Aussie Brett Drewitt got his PGA Tour card after finishing #24 of the first 25 cards awarded after the final event of the Korn Ferry season.
