It has the potential Lefty, but if they keep getting Clayton in for course improvement, they have zero chance of getting to where they aspire to be

Odd comment considering that Mike Clayton has never had any architectural involvement with Yarra Yarra.

    Wasn’t it Doak?
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

    You did.

It is. Doak's work at YY over the past 18 months is generally excellent (I'm not convinced he has the 3rd hole or the 10th green right, but certainly both are better than they previously were).

For a club like Yarra Yarra that has languished in the dark since the mid 1980's, lurching from one incompetent architect to the next (Hartley/Cashmore/Hawtree), perhaps if they had given Mike an opportunity in the mid 90's to address their self inflcted wounds, they would not have wallowed in the abyss for more than 20 years. The extensive tree clearing and restoration of playing widths that Doak has accomplished is a massive improvement to the course and how it looks and plays.

What's the conditions of Ocean Dunes like? Wondering how it's held up with lack of visitation (I assume).

All the KI Courses were spot on, as they held their pro-am last week and had 100+ players.

If I rank them, its Wickham 1, Barney 2, Lost Farm 2.01, Ocean Dunes 4th. Too many blind shots at Ocean Dunes, and they could mow the rough an extra 2m everywhere. We copped a mildly breezy day. the only one of the 4, and it just felt like we were getting beaten up.

However, Ocean Dunes has some absolutely incredible holes in 3, 4, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17 in amongst dogs like 5 and 6. And 2 needs a rock placed on the dune in front of the green so you have some idea of where the flag is without walking up and back the 100m or whatever it is.

Not as yet. Only get the chance to play 18 on a Saturday and nine during the week, as doing some work. So usually shoot down to Moruya. Tried for Hilltop to play nine holes midweek and they wanted $44, which I though was over the top.

Nothing exciting for the last couple of rounds. Oxley was in better condition than last time thanks to the rain, but still annoying with the dog legs. My exploring is being hampered by my neighbour and regular playing partner, because he really only wants to play early and close by.

    1. Llanherne* - cool 9 holer where most holes have a separate tee for the 2nd nine, some of which change the hole a decent amount. They actually have a waiting list of 50+!

There's no * by my Home course if that's what the question is?
I just put the * in there ready for the copy and paste if/when the time comes.
On the other side I only have 4-6 games a year at North Haven.
