24/01/2021, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees, Stableford.

    Stats: 2/11 fairways, 6/18 greens, 32 putts.
Score: BPBPBXXPP PBPPPBXBP; 44:37:78 (+9:+5:+14); Stab 14:17:31pts; Played to 14.8.

The run of good form finally came to an end. There isn't much positive to take out of the round, except maybe the short game, and half decent irons, when I actually had a shot at the green. The problem with playing well for a while, was the higher expectations, and I didn't keep my cool when things didn't go my way. Although, I'd be shirty any time I took a two shot penalty for hitting the wrong ball (from a hazard), but the crankiness would normally only carry over until the next hole.

If that's my bad round, then it's not too bad of a score, although I am concerned that I am not playing well each time I play at Wolly Park, and that's where I plan to join.

Next round: I'll try to have a nine hole hit with the boy on one of the next couple of days.

    23/01/2020 Moruya GC - Stableford - 39 Points

    Stats: 79% Fairways, 33% Greens - 29 Putts
    Score PPPbDPPPP PBBBPPPDB 37:41:: 78 (+1:+6:+7) Slope 136 Scratch 71 - Played to 5.8

Best round to date at Moruya. Played good golf on the front nine with a small blemish on the short par 3, than a steady back nine but with a sluggish finish. Putting was good all day and made some good up and downs.
Course was again in great condition.

Fairways and greens stats weren't great but the greens were quite soft and my game from 100m in was really good for once, regularly sticking the ball close enough for a 1 putt, especially from chips close to the green. Really enjoyed the course.

After a pretty ordinary 101 at Caboolture on Sunday, mainly courtesy of terrible ball striking everywhere but the tee (I hit 8 fairways and nearly grabbed a NTP on the last), I put that behind me today in the Stableford comp at Oxley. Playing off 16, I ended up with 37 points (87 gross), 22 of them on the back 9 which I scored +5. Only hit 5 fairways but 6 GIR for 5 pars and a birdie helped. Was able to scramble par on a few others where I missed the green too. Could have done better than 35 putts but I enjoyed hitting the ball better after that nonsense on Sunday.

It's one of mine now too. I'd never been there before. I'll be back again in August with my social club's annual trip, looking forward to it for sure.

The swings and roundabouts of golf! Today I had a fairly non-eventful 34 points. But here is my recent golf history.

    2 rounds ago, 28 points, 39 putts.
    1 round ago, 38 points, 25 putts.
Today, 34 points, 34 putts. My swing was good today, but last week's short game went missing. That's golf, I suppose.

    Default WDYSTM - January 2021

S.A Ozgolf game at Links Lady Bay on Australia Day.
Completely forgot we were hitting off earlier than what we originally wanted so got there a bit late. The others were on about the 3rd when I hit off playing catch up.
Played the 1st making sloppy bogey.
Hit tee shot on the 2nd then waited for ages to play second making an easy Par.
Saw the others on the 4th Green so wait for them to come down the 5th and joined in from the 6th.
From there it was miss mash of pars and bogies with a double or 2 thrown in to remind of how poor my standard is now
Drove it poorly all day, hit some good irons after fatting a few early before moving the ball back in the stance a bit. Putted like a busted on slow greens with a heap of 3 jiggles after being on in reg. I need to find the enthusiasm to get on my putting mat for an alignment check as I wasn't starting many on the intended line.
Birdie on the Par 5 16th being a highlight after 1 of 2 decent drives all day followed up with bullet 3 wood into the last of the bunkers short of the green. A 20m bunker shot to 6 foot was finished off with firm putt in the middle of the cup.

    2 rounds to report.

Yesterday I played with the Navy at Mareeba GC. Due to the ACR I played off 2 for the first time ever. It didn't prove to be a problem, as I went on to shoot 71 (-1) for 39pts and a comp win. I'm now off to bump the "I've conquered the game" thread.

I couldn't back it up today though, 34pts around Cairns GC. I hit it pretty solid for the most part but didn't make any putts outside of about 5-6ft.

Well done on the sub-par round, Courty.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Cheers Dave, pretty chuffed with that round. I never thought Mareeba would be the place where it would happen.

MM yesterday, also was the qualifier for match play knockout.I couldn't get into it,grouped with 3 30+ handicappers,i had long periods of nothing between shots. And it was even better because it was a stroke round as well,so they couldn't even pick up.Managed 84/77 for the day, winner came in with 71 nett, with wet slow greens and a horrible humid day.
Another Gillette close shave day with the putter.34 putts and rolling it well, just missing is becoming very frustrating.
Have to give 2 shots next week in the first round of knockout, against the club president.Hoping for 35 degrees and a strong northerly

Assuming you don't have Torrey Pines rough I don't get too stressed about fairways hit, I took on board AndyP's "effective" tee shots (from years ago). Given how tight our lies have been, I prefer something in the first cut.

31/01/2021, Oxley GC, Blue Tees, Social.

    Stats: 5/14 fairways, 7/18 greens, 31 putts.
Score: BPBPPPPPP BPBPBXXBP; 37:46:83 (+2:+9:+11); Played to 10.1.

Travelling along nicely at 5 over through 14, and two holes ruined the score. Not just two holes, but in my mind, two shots with the same club. Two shots with the two hybrid that went way right of the target greens and left me dead, resulting in a double and triple. Grrrrr! I'm so inconsistent with the hybrids.

Besides that it wasn't anything special, but keeping it in play most of the time, hitting a few greens, and scrambling well when I missed.

Next round: A social nine at Jindalee next Sunday.

That's fair PG, and I'm not all over the place , so I can still score ok.

I'm just lacking confidence off the tee and I think if I can correct that, I may be able get down as low as I've been for many years
