Default Golf drives that gave you a chubby.

This thread is to bang on about that drive that gave you inner joy lights.
If it’s cutting the corner of that dogleg or putting one past Bushy, please tell.

Maybe it’s getting one out there off the tee of a notorious hole like the 3rd at Tasmania GC

When I was much younger (20 years old) I used to be able to hit it much further. I also used to be able to hit it 2 fairways in the wrong direction. The 1st hole at Glenelg GC is a 293m par 4 and after playing the back 9 first I was pretty warmed up by the time we reached the first. I vividly remember hitting my drive to the front edge of the green. One of my mates also used to remind me about it over the years so that one sticks in my head. I'm much shorter off the tees these days in an effort to keep it straight.

BYU hit a drive at Thaxted recently that got my attention. The par 4 16th is index 3 and a hole I rarely par. It's a 383m flowing dogleg to the left and a good drive is paramount to being able to hit the green in 2. He hit a laser over the corner which seemed to keep going and going. He measured it at 290m.

How about driving the green on a par 4 after your playing partner insisted on waiting for it to clear because he’d already hit into the old birds in the group in front and was worried they’d put in a complaint about him, by which time we had a gallery on the tee and the rest of my playing partners blew their drives all over the map.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

It's a sad state of affairs when you can only qualify for a thread like this with your driver on a par 3.

Such as on the 12th at Royal Adelaide into the teeth of the wind. I still haven't forgiven the SA Ozgolfers for not having a NTP prize on that hole that day.

For real? you can't seriously have an NTP on that hole. We all have individual moments of brilliance that go unnoticed and unrecognised Jim

    I've got a few I can remember.

    1. 14th at Waikerie in the Waikerie Open with one of the early Taylor Made Metal Woods when Metal Woods were first coming into the game - Got a fair piece of it with what was a 1 club wind all day and ball flight was weird in that it was traveling at a certain height then moved upwards more. Carried well over the upslope and onto the flat leaving a flick into the Green. Never got within 120m of that one again from many games there including down wind again.

    2. Old 11th Hole at the Patawollunga before they chopped the course up for the Airport runway. Can't remember the length of the hole but there was a flat spot on the fairway before it took a dip down a couple of feet then it was flat to a 2 tiered Green. Most down wind days we would get it to the flat bit. This day a got a big piece of it and landed on the downslope kicking it one to eventually run out up onto the back tier. Of course the pin was uncommonly down the front and I 3 jabbed it for a safe par. (Callaway Big Bertha S2H2 9 Degree)

    3. Most recently was 18th a Manum in a SA Ozgolf Game. For giggles a few of us thought we would have a crack at taking on the sharp dogleg corner that everything left was OB. A few medium size Mallee Trees to get the ball up quick enough close to the Tee as well. The plan was to leave 20-30m into the Green. Trying to squeeze every last bit out of it I pulled it a bit as well but contact was excellent. Ball was found in the area between the 1st tee and start of fairway 20m through the green on a straight line from the Tee.

This is about as big a drive I can hit without a completely baked out fairway.

This one at Murwillumbah last Sunday was my longest, no wind but I suppose the elevation drop helped it. As usual stuffed up the pitch and ended up with a bogey but I still enjoyed the drive.

Nailed one over the corner on our 17th today, which is a 400m 90 degree dogleg right over a densely wooded penalty area. It's downhill, but needs a ~230m carry with a pretty narrow window between/over trees. Nice when it comes off and you end up 70m out on a 400m index 1 hole.
