Probably just trying not to lose. Agree the negative tactics are boring though. At least this pitch looks like it actually has something in it.

Interesting day 1 in Sri Lanka. Very glad to see that the selectors stuck with Head and Green rather than resorting to Maxwell - the only way people get better at playing in spinning conditions is if they actually play in spinning conditions ....

If Australia has any hope of winning this series, they can't afford the little errors like dropping catches and needless run-outs.

If that was Pakistan, we would all be claiming the fix was in. Australia's batsmen actively seemed to be trying to get out - can't remember a worse batting performance in the past few years (and there have been some shockers in there!).

Only Green could even remotely blame the pitch; the rest were just bizarre shot choices due to a complete failure in reading the conditions and playing accordingly. In Finch's case, it is further confirmation that he should have been dropped at least 12 months ago.

Edit: In fairness, Marcus got a pretty good ball.

And now the Aussie cricket captain has gone woke. Cummins the Alinta man says they dont align with his teams values.

That'll teach Alinta for standing by them through the cheating saga.

    Oh the irony.

How does Pat think they power the lights at all the grounds?

With electricity, but he'd prefer a greener option. Alinta ranks down near the bottom in The Green Electricity Guide by Greenpeace.

Well that game tonight Ind v Pak was as big a comeback as I have ever seen. Bit rough on the spinner but not his fault he got stiffed with the last over.

His new strategy is to shorten the night games so they get the lights off sooner. Apparently.

Looked dodgy to me with that no ball call and subsequent free hit. From the side angle, you can see that the umpire had no intention of signaling a no ball when the ball was hit, but calls it after Kohli requests it.

That was a hell of a match. Kohlis back to back sixes in the 19th over were absolutely pivotal, and made the last over spinner a bit of a lame duck. However, 2 wides and a no-ball..... if it wasn't such a big game, you might have thought the fix was in.

My Pakistani 2IC is not in a good mood today.

Seemed a bit unfair on fielding side to concede 3 byes after bowling Kohli on a free hit, that was undefendable.

Perhaps would be more equitable in that instance to call it dead ball, especially that it makes it even harder for the runnout with broken stumps. I think at one point the commentators mumbled something indicating they didnt know what happened.

Like a lot of sports, the commentating would be better if they knew the rules.

I suspect that will be a changed rule for next year

If a tree falls in a WBBL game and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

I think the WBBL might be getting a start on my TV tonight, and over the next few days. The minnows v giants matchups don't appeal in the 20/20, and the golf is utterly woeful this week.

Thankfully, the baseball world series starts on Saturday.

So if a tree does fall in the WBBL, I'll tell you about it.

Seems that this England v NZ game is either going to eliminate Aus from finals or they are a shoe in.

( if my math is correct)

    Cmon England!
