Default The Cricket Season of 2020/21.

What a calamity Warner's injury has caused. It's gone from a likely bat off between Burns and Pucovski to a point where either could be hard to pick. Burns is making himself extremely difficult to endorse with not even a half decent innings under his belt this summer. Will has copped yet another head knock but reports are he is quite good at this stage.

Harris could well get in almost by default. He has however scored heaps of runs in the shield this season and got starts against India this match. Suddenly the likes of Shaun Marsh are being looked at as potential options as our opening cabinet is pretty average. I'd be loathe to move Marnus up given his recent brilliance. Bumrah is a challenge to the finest of batsman and he will be asking all sorts of questions come the 1st Test. It will be telling what team we roll out in the next tour match. Both opening places still very much up for grabs and they'd certainly be hoping for a Warner miracle.

Will they have the stones to pick Green? It would probably come at the expense of Wade or Head and with Warner likely out and worries at the top of the order could they do without that extra experience?

Crazy idea - open with Wade to make room for Green at 6. Wade or Burns dropped when Warner returns.

Yeah, it's tough. He is the incumbent though, and scored a hundred in his last test (but that was a long time ago).

It's funny, a few weeks ago it looked like Warner & Burns were locked in, now it's possible neither of them will play.

I think Harris is in by default. Burns would really be keen to score runs in the night match. He needs 50+ i reckon.

Burns looks totally shot - don’t see how you could pick him at the moment. Assuming no ongoing problems with his concussion, surely young Will gets a debut alongside Harris. Green looks even more unlikely now for Adelaide having been subbed out following the blow to his head today.

Burns needs to be picked in the test squad, so he isn't available for the Heat, who are shit enough as it is.

Pucovski out of the 1st Test and Harris replaces him in the squad. Harris will surely get a gig. If he's ever going to cement a spot now would be the time to produce. He's been around a while and never found his feet at Test level tho he looked semi promising here and there.

Burns and Harris both fail in the tour match. May as well put Finch back in....

S Marsh and Khawaja. We're in a bind for openers at the moment.

Carey acquitting himself well in this match.

Harris has at least been well among the runs the last few months. Burns will turn it around at some point but will they be willing to use Test matches as the forum? What a crisis Warner's injury caused. Trying to find a partner for him was very low stress comparative to where we've ended up. We might be looking for a hella lotta runs from Marnus and Smith.

Burns never looked comfortable in his stay at the crease against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami before being trapped lbw by the latter when he walked across his crease to a full delivery.
Moments after Burns trudged off the television cameras panned to Trevor Hohns, the national selector, on his phone in the stand.

Burns is so low on confidence that he is playing with his technique, and shuffling across the stumps at delivery. I wouldn't assume that he will turn it around.

Yeh he's got that slump going strong. Pity as the time was right for him to step up.

Apparently Wade opening is being seriously looked at. I assume Green or Moses will bat down the order in Wades spot.

    That's if it happens.
